Monster Cable is a hype and no better than the generic brand. All you need is the correct gauge wire for the distance you plan to run. Thicker wires for longer distance is recommended. I wouldn't go cutting a line in your carpet just to run wires since it's going to be impossible for you to patch up. If you do want to run it under the carpet, I'd get flat wire/cable and cut a slit behind/beneathe your tv and another one behind/beneathe your couch and using a big magnet, tie a big flat washer to some fishing line and fish it from one side to the other. After that, just pull the wire using the fishing line. Don't worry, I'll bill you later for my advice.
