Does anyone have friends that work at Best Buy or Circuit City??

Sorry to ***** this out there, but im desperate. (the jokes will roll on about that statement)

anyhoo, there is a 42" Samsung TV I want/need for my new apt and If I cant go through someones discount, I have until this weekend to buy it since it is on what they call a "sale" right now plus they have bonus points with the best buy reward card, but the savings are minimal.

If anyone can help, I greatly appreciate it.

have you ever ordered with them before? I was just checking with online stores and the horror stories seemed pretty bad with both.

That is the TV however.

Hook us all up! I don't know about tvs but for home speakers, the employee discount at Best Buy is a huge amount. A long while back, I purchase some home audio speakers and a cd changer that rang up $1200 but ended up paying $800-900 with a buddy's discount.

The "Reward Zone" is a good deal... it will save you 3 1/3% in the form of cash certificates good on future purchases. As a Reward Zone member, you'll get a mailing every 4-6 weeks with a Coupon worth 10% off of most items.

While I don't have any friends who work for Best Buy or Circuit City, I sure got to know a lot of them two weekends ago when our 20 year-old Sony 25" DXR died - it was our bedroom set. My better half and I spent all weekend researching and viewing sets at BB, CC, Tweeter, and Pro-Video, and on-line. (Fortunately I had one of those 10% Coupons, so that tipped the scale a little towards BB.

We ended up getting a 37" Plasma and absolutely love it. Now if I can get my twelve-year-old Sony 53" XBR to die I'd be happy.

The best picture and best price I saw was for a 34" Sony CRT. At just under two hundred pounds we passed on it, however.

If you want my next 10% Coupon it will likely be available.

as you might know I worked at Best Buy from October of '04 to March of '05. I'll try and ask around and see if any of them are willing to do this but I doubt they will be. If they get caught they're in a lot of **** and it's a big purchase too especially for an employee.

John, forgot about the Rewards Zone. I have a card and got around $250-$300 back in Best Buy GC's when I bought everything. Plus there was a Comcast deal at the time where I got $200 in credit off my comcast bill so it all turned out to be a great deal. Plus the no interest for 30 months. I'd recommend getting it from Best Buy when they have one of their promos. They seem to pop-up every few months. Maybe even ask a BB employee when the next time is?

I also get those 10% off coupons. I'll have to see if they apply for these big t.v's but I'll pass it along when I get them. Seems like every month I get a set.

The 10% Off does apply to big t.v.'s - sets above $399 as I recall. I just used one Labor Day weekend. Set was on sale and also took the 10% off.
