Only a few of you have gotten back to me as far as attending the bbq at Noon at Lake Fairfax. I am estimating around 30-40 people possibly (really rough estimate)? This includes G members and guests you may bring.

Due to the high amount I think it may be best if some of you can bring some items - I will provide almost anything I can ( if this exceeds my budget, I may ask for $1 or $2 from each person - hopefully everyone understands and I know I said it was free :-)) but below are some items I'd like people to bring!

1. Match Light charcoal, matches and some cooking utencils! (This is a must from someone)
2. Coolers - Any coolers you may have to hold 2 liter bottles.
3. Condiments - ketchup, mustard, relish, any items you want on your meat (it just doesnt make sense for me to purchase this when we will only use a little of it)
4. Some sodas if you can. This isn't required but if you wanted to bring some 2-liter bottles that would be great - I will be getting some myself.
5. Desserts - I hadnt planned on bringing any desserts so again if you wanted to bring some feel free but try and bring as much as you can.
6. Ice! This will be tough for me to bring in my small G so if anyone can bring some ice that'll be great - I should be able to get 1 bag at least though!
7. Footballs, basketball, frisbees, anything else you may want to bring.
8. Lawn chairs too if you wanna camp out.

I think I should have everything else covered. That includes:

1. Meats (burgers, hotdogs, chicken)
2. Utencils (knives, forks, spoons, napkins, cups, plates)
3. Sodas, snacks (chips, other junk food)
4. Ice (at least 1 bag)

Any extra $$$ I have will be put to other things we may need (desserts, odds and ends)

Did you reserve a picnic area? from this website http://www.co.fairfax.va.us/parks/picnics/restnics.htm it costs to rent an area. I hope this is not the case.

 

Yeah it costs to rent. We should be fine though since usually that is not enforced.

On a side note, Byrnie you had mentioned you would go early and reserve a spot. I was actually counting on you to do that. Because you have scheduling conflicts does that mean you cant make it now? I dont wanna be a d!ck but it really wouldnt be cool if you say you can do something and then not follow through on it, although Im sure someone else can go early and reserve a spot as well. I just have never been to the park myself so I cant say.

 

lake fairfax is cool, they have nobody onsite who actually enforces anything in terms of renting picnic places etc. there are small tables w/ grilles which we can obtain with no problem. i also know that some state parks (great falls park and burke lake) have a ranger or have rangers on site, lake fairfax does not, so we also dont have to worry about paying any sort of cover for those outside of (fairfax county). In case byrns cant make it out to reserve a spot, let me know pratik and I can go out and do so. I may go up earlier and bring some sides as well. more food the merrier IMO!!
