Your best bet is to find someone who specializes in carpet extraction. They will basically have to shampoo every inch of carpet in the car and then extract. I'm guessing a full interior detail will run you ~$100-125.

If you want to try and tackle it yourself, you could rent a machine from the grocery store or whoever rents them in your area. Cost would be ~$50 with the detergent. Just make sure you let your car completely air out or you will be left with a nasty mildew smell in the car.

thanks, i think i would rather just fork the money to let the pros do it. 100-125 sounds reasonable to me. can anyone refer any shop in particular that theyve had good experience with?

Something you might try. Meguiar's makes a Car Odor Eliminator spray that might do the trick. You can get it at some Auto Parts stores.

That's a good product, but all that is going to do is mask the smell for a short period. He is going to need to do a full carpet extraction. A vehicle that has been heavily smoked in will yield black water when a carpet extraction is done. Its pretty nasty looking, but is definitely his best best.

Terry, I'll pull up my contacts tonight and give you the names of a few people you can try. A couple of them are mobile and will actually come to your home to do the detail.

Ive used Bell's Personal Touch twice for my car, they did a pretty sweet job both times. They come right to your house or work and will do it there. Heres the info:

(202) 498-1143
(301) 219-3332

Package2 which is just the Interior & Trunk is $79. Ofoucrse they have alot of other packages if you wanted more stuff done.

Hey Terry, sorry I didn't have a chance to respond last night. Here is a very competent detailer in our area.
