DLO TransPod Works for Me

I've tried most of the other FM transmitter units. The DLO TransPod works the best. I put it inside the armrest for a pretty clean install. Can't change songs easily though, but it works for me.

The FM transmitters suck if you want good audio. They are nice because you can leave it in your pocket or hidden away and easily transportable, but the quality is bleh. My buddy had an iPod mini and the iTrip and on our trip back from downtown Tokyo it would cut out at times. We don't know if it's because of a crappy iTrip module, or if it's the fact that we use different radio freq's over here (for instance, my favorite radio station is 76.1 FM - try tuning that one on your car radio). Also, the sound was so-so.

The tape-thingys usually work OK. I had one way back when I had an 87 Taurus with a tape deck. Back then CD Head Units were super expensive so we'd hook up our Discmans with the tape thingy to play CD's. It worked better than the FM transmitters, but not nearly as good as RCA connections.

Any sort of RCA connection is going to be better than your tape thingy or FM solution. They are generally more expensive, harder to install, and not mobile, but for me, the sound quality is definately worth the difference. Right now I am debating on whether I want to hook up my 40GB iPod photo, or if I want to go with the CarPuter route. I'm thinking that I'll end up going with the carputer route because then I can have a nice touchscreen to control it with (and hidden too so my stuff won't get ganked [see digitalwheez.com]), plus I can add fun stuff like GPS, etc. That and the fact that with a Carputer I can put in a larger hard drive to hold all my music. (I just went to load up my 40GB iPod for my trip to Hong Kong this weekend and iTunes said that it can't fit them all on there, so it graciously picks and chooses which ones make it for you!)

Joe you local? A few of us in the club have carputers installed with the DigitalWheelz screen.

Im actually redoing my carputer setup with a new system in the trunk. Going to implement my wifi, reverse camera, bluetooth and add in an Opus - Gonna need Devon's help on that one but its gonna be pretty sweet.

If by local you mean Tokyo, then yes!

I'm just cruizin' through the forums because eventually I'm going to move to DC. I don't even have a G35 yet because everything over here is Right hand drive and costs BUKU dollars to get changed to US Specs (in addition to having to pay almost 2x US price to begin with because of the exchange rate).

But it is fun driving a manual with your left hand. Too bad I keep a death grip on the steering wheel because the roads are so freakin' narrow over here!

When I get to the area I'll have to look you guys up. I'm looking to get a very similar set up that you have, with the 4080 box, component speakers, DigitalWheelz screen and carputer.

sweet pratik has some nice speakers I need to listen to them sometime but one of my friends had kappas components in his car and they were really really nice. I can't wait to get my momos installed this saturday, I hate the waiting. Hey Pratik did you ever get that borla TD, I was thinking about getting one eventually?
