Not to jump into your thread, but in my opinion the Glock is a great way to go for the beginner... I have a 2 sigs, 2 glocks, HK and an S&W. The glock is great to learn on, easy to use, easy to break down and clean. The safety mechanism is great for new users too. I also would say get the 9mm to start since ammo cost is a lot less than the .40 cal. If you really want to have fun at the range, get a nice target .22 with some glass and you will have a blast at little cost. But the .22 will only protect you if a squirrel breaks in... For home protection, nothing beats a nice shotgun... the cocking sound will get rid of most... I have an M1 garand which is a blast also if you have outdoor local ranges and the AR15 which will turn the house into swiss cheese and go through some walls if you try to lay out an intruder... Good luck and be safe... take an NRA safety and pistol class, well worth the money...

Yeah this will be the first hand gun I own and register. I thought glock would be more appropriate. Get some hollow points...

A big YES! All firearms must be in a locked case out of reach (trunk) including the ammo.

Thats when you pull out your other gat that's been used for drive bys and multiple homicides and be like, "no biotch, this is a robbery!" Then you pistol whip the guy.

actually my pop has a 9 under the seat... he is in PA though, and legally he cannot take it out of the state without it being in the trunk. Think I might get one too, register it in PA....

shooting range sounds fun, i have a 9mm Beretta stainless that i just got from the last gun show at Dulles expo, sweeeet smooooth gun. Ialso have a "Dirty Harry" 44 Magnum revolver . Usually go to Blue Ridge Arsenal and also got a membership to the NRA wich i believe i can bring gests with.
Now saving to buy a 30.06 or a 300 win. mag bolt action for hunting seasson.
