Opinions on Fog Bulbs Replacement?

I'm looking to replace my fogs here pretty soon (orob. DIY day) along with my clearance strip lights. I've always hated the yellow fogs and didnt want to bother changing my HID's because I didnt want to decrease the light output too much just for a little more blueish hue with 6000K bulbs.

I came across:

PIAA H4 Extreme White Plus 15224:

http://store.yahoo.com/ltbmotorsport/pih4sebu.html

You can get them from ltbmotorsport. You can see the attached image of how it looks. What do you guys think? Supposed to match the 4000K stock HID pretty well which is the look I am going for.

Also will pick up another set of 19263 bulbs for the clearance strips. I'll then have the interior (domes and step) and exterior conversion (clearance and fogs and clear corners) to PIAA's:

P.S. - I know the fogs are supposed to be yellow to be functional but I honestly never use them so with these I'll probably drive with my fogs on all the time for increased light output.

Pratik,

You should look into the plasma gt-x series...see if you can find a pic of one. i saw a member who had them and they looked really nice and not all blue/ricey IMO. I currently have the xtreme white's in clearance/sidemarker/doors/dome and they look nice too, although ive never seen the fogs. but i do know that the plasma one's are really nice looking!

Puria,

Thank you for your suggestion. But you're a lazy a$$ at work anyways. Can you please find the picture for me? Thanks.

OK I am impatient. I found what you're talking about however its more to match the 6000K bulbs. You can see some pics here how they are with some 6K bulbs:

The pic attached is of MTEC Super White 4350 temp/color H4 fog lights.

Puria,

Someone was posting the PIAA's only last a few months to around a year. Is that true? Would suck to swap them out only after a few months of use. I had planned on using the fogs almost everytime my headlights are on to complete the look.

BTW: the MTEC's can be found here for $24

Pretty cheap IMO.

Pratik,

People who are/were saying PIAA's last only a few months/weeks handled the bulbs most likely. I heard the same things about the PIAA wedge bulbs I installed on my clearance/side markers and have had them almost a year and they all still work. This had almost caused me to look at another brand for the wedge bulbs but I stuck to PIAA and I guess im glad I have. Either way its your pick!! I'll try to find the pic for you in between picking my teeth and brading my ******* hairs at work.

Hahaha. ******* hairs. It looks like the MTEC's have a short life span as well but those seem to match better. They're also around $25 for a pair so a lot cheaper. Not sure if its better to go straight to the MTEC's or PIAA's.

Pratik,

what can i say man, the poor kid has down syndrome so i cant really hit him w/ any comebacks as i feel more sorry for him than anything else....

it's ok though, i'll try and remember how i stick to knocking on the actual person rather than bring in their significant others, moms/sisters into the mix when he asks anymore questions.

umm on second thought....break out the flame suit, im gonna start running queries every 10 minutes on every post by 'byrnie', its gonna be a rough summer, mentally challenged or not once you go to the moms/sisters/gf's you've left yourself open....

btw, i'll start copy/pasting his begging and pleading PM's not to be mad at him or to kick his *** everytime he posts a joke or comment about me!!

Puria,

I understand. I'd much rather sucker punch Ryan instead of dissing his Mom in a club forum!! I didnt know he had down syndrome. Now I feel sorry for him too

What is the better fogs to go with as far as longer lasting. MTEC's seem to match but may blow out quicker while the PIAA's seem to last longer? Ahh decisions decisions.

Pratik,

as far as them blowing out, a few member's have the MTEC fogs and havent had any probs w/ them as well. I think they will prob. last the same length of time....I think as long as you dont handle them or crack them during install you have nothing to worry about really. I didnt know the MTEC's were so much less but I'd probably just go w/ them b/c they look real good from the pic you posted...

Puria,

I read its just a matter of turning the wheel and removing some clips so the flap comes off and then I would have access to the clearance and fogs. Is it possible to do both or just remove the whole wheel so you dont have to mess with that.

You can always help me out if I have problems.

ya man,

i switched mine out in about an hour or so...as usual the first one took longer. you turn the wheel, remove the fender guard just enough to fit your hand into. twist the housing, remove the metal clip holding the bulb (this is done by squeezing the 2 opposite parts 2gether which releases the bulb, when reassembling again, you need to again squeeze the 2 metal parts 2gether, slide it over the housing and release to lock back in place). the hardest part is getting in the new bulb the right way for the metal clip to lock back into place. twist housing closed. thats pretty much it!!

I would highly recommend changing any other bulbs at the same time!! Its such a pain in the *** having to remove the fender guard as it has many locking pieces that need to be removed. so if you wanna change your clearance lights, do it all at once and save yourself an extra hour of labor!!
