The cop said i was doin 41mph...but i knew for sure that i did not get close to that...i knew the area well enough and the fastest i would go is 30 max (rarely)... If he said i was going 30-32 in 25 mph zone then i woulda just pay the fine...i know that 11mph is not a big difference (better than 41) but doesnt it mean that his radar is at fault? I dont know if the the cop's radar can be off...if it was then he cant fine me by relying on a defected manchine...??

I know many people who have gotten off with this type of case.....just my $.02

good luck
That sounds like a good idea...that might give me a better chance of getting off than just telling the judge..( your honor...i'm innocent god damn it >_<)

Okay ... Since i experienced a similar situation like this a few months .. i'll tell you whats the best thing you should do... Go to court ... explain your situation like wnt1bad said .... and leave it to the judge... if you are found guilty .. take those damn driving classes .. i know they are long ... but when you take those classes .. and pass the safe drivers program you get 5 points added to your drivers record ... instead of getting 1 point off or 2 and you will get the violation off your record. You will have to pay for the classes about a $100 Bucks .. but hey those 5 points are worth it. just verify this when you go to court... that it applies to you .. because im not sure .. if your supposed to be over 18 or over 21 .. to get those 5 points added... Good Luck man .. and take care .. especially in Vienna .. its infested with cops.

Hmmm....

It goes something like this...

You: "I know this area and I wasn't doing 41 MPH, I would never go over 30 MPH."

Judge: "So you admit you were speeding." "Guilty!" "Next Case."

i would personally never leave my fate to another person (especially a judge). first you dont know how much of a d1ck or saint he'll be, you wont know how bad a day he/she has had not to mention all the other factors. Id much rather cover all angles and have my a$$ covered...but thats just me and thats the exact reason i wont just walk into a courtroom w/o having SOME BS excuse that will work to get off. its like walking into an exam and not studying assuming your 'general knowledge' will guide you. I'd much rather study, knowing it can help me get out of something......but thats just me!!

i once got a parking ticket at george mason for parking in a handicap spot...i came up w/ a brilliant excuse that i had just got into a car accident had to call for help needed pay phone etc etc....and the $100 fine was 'let off' after the hearing and after they heard my BS excuse!! I had pics and everything too!!! . when it comes to working the system....i will ALWAYS try to find a way out!!

Yea if you really want to be sure to get out without any points then I would get a good lawyer. my brother and his friend got a ticket for reckless driving and took it to court and the judge dropped the charges. I think the lawyer cost $600 dollars each.

Make sure you look at your ticket and see what he actually charged you with. There should be a code number that he is charging you with. Of course if you get a lawyer he will look over the ticket for any errors.

even if you are going to plead guilty I would still plead not guilty and go to court and see if the cop shows up. If he doesnt then the judge will drop the charges and if he does show up then just plead guilty or whatever.

Ah yes, Fairfax, the area where going 20 over the speed limit can net you a punishment as severe as robbing a liquor store.

Do yourself a favor and get a traffic attorney. It will cost you ~$300 and they should be able to knock off all the points. Might sound pricey for your first offense, but better than paying a few thousand extra to the insurance company over 3 years. I cannot remember if Virginia offers deferred adjudication on first offenders for traffic violations, but that is something you could bring up to the traffic attorney or research yourself if you are willing to take the time to read through traffic laws.

Good luck.

Sorry but a handicapped driver shouldnt buy a G35, it would be a waste of horsepower and torque. Not to mention there arent many handicapped people that would be parked outside of a soccer field at george mason. I am not the type of person to brag as the member's in our forum who actually know me and come to the meets can tell you.

The point was that if you really want you can always find a way out of some things....but apparently we have some real sensitive people in our region who take things too serious and try to move things from the point at hand.

take it as you like, i could care less. the fact is you know nothing about me hence your sensitivity to the comments i made. other member's on the forums who actually 'know' me wouldnt ever let a comment like that affect them b/c they know what type of person i am. having said that, i could care less about sensitivity as this is a forum not a Alcoholics anonymous forum and as i said above i do not brag as my name isnt 'puriadawg', 'sweetdawg', sourdawg' or anything w/ the term 'dawg' or 'homie' or 'playa' because the term 'dawg' is reserved for those who are cool. i was simply making the point that you CAN get out of almost any situation if you are willing to work. go outside catch a deep breath, have a cup of tea, calm down and enjoy your day and dont take life to serious.

Ya know, you're right. As no one else seems disturbed by your post, I shall delete my comments above so as to not offend.

Too bad we didn't serve together while I was earning my right to use that Handicapped parking spot.

Again, I apologize to you and all.
