Seems to be a big news item. Kind of ironic they're talking about the $3K speeding ticket in VA yet radar detectors aren't even legal here!
Very well thought out point. I would accept the new rules if radar detectors became legal. That would balance out things a little bit. We were long over due even with the old fees and the crazy power abusing police force we have in Northern Va. I think a petition for radar detectors should be in order. Might as well get the whole system fixed while we are at it.

To be honest with you, a radar detector does you little good in NoVA with the major of cops using laser only. I've noticed my V1 picking up nothing the last few weeks since more speed traps have sprung up. They use what looks like a pair of binoculars with built in laser. Half the time, they can do it inside their cars with windows rolled up. Only poor counties use radar and that's only on highways. These guys use top notch stuff around Fairfax county I've noticed with crazy range. The one time the V1 registered a laser signal, the cop was almost 1/3 a mile away way off the road near a construction sight. I thought it was a bogey until I finally saw him. The best deterrent is to watch oncoming traffic warning of speed traps. Saved me at least 3 times in the past 2 weeks.

Wow, its affection peoples positions on capitol hill. So if they voted for the transportation bill, then they are pretty much out of office when it comes time for re-election.

That should do justice if it works.

Great! I wouldn't be surprised. This thing looks like it can stop my car if it wanted too. So much money in this State, it's crazy.

Almost all the speed traps I've been through the last few weeks were laser. Luckily at one speed trap on the side roads, the undercover cop used radar and laser. Where do you guy mount your V1s? Is it out of sight somewhere?

Being you live in VA like me, it might be best to get it hardwired into the grill, or front and rear bumpers.

OR

You can do what Pratiks does and slow down and make eyes w/ the popo and then throw your detector in the back seat and cover it w/ 2 jackets everytime

Thanks for saving my azz and John's, way to take one for the team

^I've yet to hear or see of a V1/Passport installed into the grill/bumpers. How would you hear the device?

More for the grill/bumper is a laser jammer. i've seen detectors there (Not valentine or escort) but I was under the impression they were pretty pricey. I'd imagine it would have some sort of remote display into your car like the V1 has.

Well I was suggesting a K40 detector, they just came out w/ one that is bluetooth now. They are saying that if you get your first ticket, then they will pay for it themselves.

Actually my friend had a V1 installed stealth in NC for ~$1500. They basically ripped open the V1 and set its sensors in the front bumper/grill area and rear bumper. They also stealth installed the unit in the dash so you cant even tell he has one. It's obviously hardwired but its $$ to have it done that way. IMHO thats the only way id do it in VA and the cops would never have any clue
