ECU reflash question

Okay, so I want to get my ecu reflashed. I'd like to keep my stock oem ecu though when I go to the dealership and such. I plan on buying another ECU for my car and having THAT one reflashed and swap back and forth as needed. Would I have to get my keys programmed to both ECUs and is that possible? Any idea on how much it would cost? I'm assuming a dealership could take care of it for me.

Unless you know somebody within the dealership, it'll cost a whole lot to ket all your keys programmed to both ECUs. Talk to Lek to see if he can talk to his guy at IOT for a hook up.

Why do you want to do this The dealership can not tell you have a reflashed ECU unless they specifically go in and look at it, and see the sticker that TecnoSquare places on it. I assume Altered Atmosphere does the same thing. I've had mine for 3 years now, and the dealer has no clue.

I'd like to be able to change back and forth easily. If I decide to sell the car I'd like to put the OEM computer back in etc. I'd also like to use a data logger on both and see the differences and log them. Jonflip, thanks I'll try to get ahold of him and see what's up. It sounds like it is possible then though.

For that kind of work why not just get a UTEC or Unichip and have it tuned. You can always take it out and be right back at stock in no time.

I agree, it's probably cheaper that way too. It's simply over kill to have 2 ECU simply for a flash, as your gains probably won't justify the trouble.

He is out of the country doing his thing. I won't get into huge details, but he was injured not too long ago and recovering well. He needed some more scars to add to his collection I guess. He is hoping to be back in the country in December, but he has a job to do and will finish it. He will have plenty of work to do when he gets back

Well here is the math I'm doing. Feel free to correct me.

ECU Reflash = free
price for second ECU = $160 (found a good source)
time it takes to swap ECU = 10 mins
Program keys to 2nd ECU = ????

-=VS.=-

UTEC = $800
Tuning = ???

It still looks like the second ECU would be much cheaper. I understand this isn't the way many of you would go, but I think I'd still like to go this route.
