Who's a good point of contact at IOC for service? I might have to bring my car in for an oil check. Any local members have oil consumption issues on the rev'ed up motors?

Most g's have an oil problem. Mx's do too. If you are smart you will not wait until 3-4000 miles to check your oil. I don't know where it goes but it just goes.

I try and check my oil often but it's kind of difficult due to the stupid dip stick in our cars. I use Amsoil that's rated up to 25K. I change my filter that's rated up to 25K every 5-7K along with my oil. If short on time, I just change to a new filter and top off the oil since it's still in very good condition. I don't drive hard but don't understand how I suddenly have an oil consumption problem with 30K miles on the car now. I'd like to know where that oil goes cause 2 qts doesn't just disappear.

yea horrible dip stick. Just a week ago as I thought I was putting the dip stick back in the right place i was shoving it through the tight but open edges of the metal piece that is supposed to guide it to the right place. I had to spend a good half an hour to get it out. I was almost ready to break it off.

I wrote the book on oil consumption...

By that I mean, the "Everyone Check Your Oil" thread. It's in the G35 sub-forum. Has about 600 replies and 20,000 views.

You contact should be Steve Taden. Keep in mind he is new. Replacing the total Shi$%'s that had been working there.

He took care of me.

yup, this completely defeats the purpose of using any "extended life" oil and filter. You're better off changing the oil every 3-5K with regular synthetic. I ussually have only 2-3 quarts left after 4K miles or so. So I'd be afraid to go any longer so i don't bother with wasting money on any extended life oil.

I knew of the oil consumption problem but for me, I've had my car for 2 years and 30K miles on my car and this now just showed up. It's a bit strange since I take care of my car and it's driven well showing no signs of burning oil. I'm going to have it checked out but hopefully this is only a one time issue. I plan to stick with the oil and filters I use now since it cost slightly more than say Mobil 1 when I buy in bulk.

Where you buying the Amsoil from? If its not too bad priced I may switch. I can usually buy 5 quarts of Mobil 1 for $20 from Walmart or sometimes have sales at Pep Boys/Autozone.

I get my Amsoil from their website. I buy 2-4 cases of 12 quarts each time along with filters. The trick is getting a Preferred Customer Registration membership for $20 for the year. For a case (12 qts) of oil, you save roughly $20 per case with the membership. I buy 2-4 cases at a time to save on shipping to avoid ordering 4-5 times a year. It averages out to maybe $6 a quart (shipped) of Synthetic 5W-30 Motor Oil (ASL). It's only a few dollars more per quart more than the Mobil 1 and if you drive moderately, you can go longer on oil changes. I order like twice a year also for family members so the $20 membership is put to good use.

IOC Service

I don't have oil consumption issues, but I have had other service things. I've been dealing with Jay in the service department. I haven't found him to be extremely helpful (but he's fine), but he is quick to raise any significant issues that he hasn't solved to the head service guy (Gary) who has been helpful. I haven't dealt enought with the techs to recommend any of them.

IOC is on my way home from work so it's convenient for me. Aside from that, I've read they've actually replaced a few people's engines so they're aware of the issue.
