Angry Police Alert!

PG County Cops are giving $70 tickets for warming up your vehicle while unintended. I should know I got one.

That sucks, no warning at least? I guess remote starts are illegal in your town now.

No, he actually said that you can use a remote starter, but just can't leave the keys in the car. Believe me he got a ear full from me and my neighbors. Maybe that's why he gave me a ticket and not a warning...

yea, they talk about this all winter long on the radio. I guess in an effort to prevent car thief, they find it necesary to fine people that leave their car unattended. Remote start is legal and you won't get fine, from what i heard. with most remote start, even if the car is on, teh doors are still lock and even if it's open, the car will kill itself once you step on the breaks. So this isnt' a thief risk. I'm pretty sure they wont fine you if you have remote start. It sounds like a scam to me though, rather than actually finding a real crime to fight, they figure.."well..everybody's going to warm their cars this winter, let's just cash in on that..and in the summer, we'll start fining houses that leave their door and windows open when it's hot out..BRILLIANT!"

That sucks I think a polite warning would have done just fine. It seems like all they are interested in is money!
