Whate are your highlights so far from Detroit?

Terry was showing me the new modified motor from Ford. That will bring some cool implementations. I was looking on autoblog.com and found some nice whips.

2008 Viper

Jeep Trailhawk

Kia Kue Concept

Mitsubishi "Prototype X"

Honda Accord Coupe Concept

Mazda Ryuga

Toyota FT-HS

--------

I have mixed feelings about these cars.

Power and refinement will be there. I wonder about all else

Lexus IS-F

Acura Concept

my favorite so far is the IS-F, Lexus got serious with this one with the 8 speed automatic with directshift. stiffer suspension, compound tires and ability to turn off DSC 100%. this is definetly not just an lexus with a powerful engine...

thats about it really... the evox... not too impressed, i like the current evo's look better. the new chasis will bring its weight up to around 3500lb.. the new powertrain is sick, but its going away from 4g63's cast iron block to a weaker aluminum block. this means aftermarket will no longer be able to just throw crazy boost at it, im guessing 400whp will be the limit of this new block.

the new duretec turbo 3.5L V6 from ford is sick, its already making GT-R twin turbo numbers and its got something our VQ35 doesnt do yet, direct fuel injection... im expecting to see some crazy lincoln and mazda speed cars coming out in the next few years making north of 400hp.

thats about it, everything else are juts soso. the acura nsx concept really disappointed me because they went to a FR layout.

the IS-F with a 425hp 5.0L V8 will be north of $50k and directly compete with the new bmw M3. its out of the new G's league.

[I]Raising performance to a whole new level. The IS-F.

Designed, tested and refined on the world’s most challenging racetracks, the Lexus IS-F is a high-performance sport sedan that will grab the eye, seduce the ear and stir the soul. Its aggressive exterior will accompany impeccable handling, intense speed and unlimited exhilaration. Inside you will find more than 400 horsepower [1], the most powerful gasoline engine we’ve ever made. [2] You’ll hear what’s in store the instant you turn the ignition and bring the IS-F to life. Its 5.0-liter direct-injected V8 engine delivers over 350 lb-ft of torque [1], along with a 0-to-60 time below 4.9 seconds [1] [3]. To keep the driver in synch with so much power, the IS-F comes equipped with the eight-speed direct sport-shift transmission with paddle shifters that snaps quickly and crisply between gears. To insure seamless shifting, the transmission will also feature a throttle “blip” on downshifts to help match the engine rpm. All the while, a specially tuned suspension delivers impeccable road feel. Drivers will particularly enjoy this while riveted—very comfortably, of course—to front sport seats featuring larger side bolsters. Closer to the ground lie massive six-piston caliper front brakes that are more than adequate to the task of restraining the 19-inch forged aluminum alloy wheels [4]. Along with a lower profile and wider stance, the rear of the IS-F features quad exhaust tips. Their unique staggered, vertical design assures that this pure performance sedan is every bit as intimidating outside as in.

The Lexus IS-F features:

Powertrain
Engine: 5.0 liter V8
Estimated Horsepower: More than 400 [1]
Estimated Torque: More than 350 lb-ft [1]

Rear: 255/35R19 (19 x 9)

Fuel Economy: TBD

Emissions Rating: ULEV II

Mitsu's is NOT a GTR and never will be. Once an Evo leaves the dealer's lot it loses 10k of its value. After 1 year it is similarly priced as my great grandmother's lancer @ 15k

FUGLY. headlights/hood SCREAM corolla S except wider/lower.... not feeling the front bumper the huge vent for the brakes nor the exhaust. In addition it only comes auto...its actually RWD Big B!! Regardless it wont keep up w/ the new M3 or S4!!

i dont know about handling wise since neither cars are out yet, but it should be a bit faster than the new M3.. if you look at the specs, its going to have a tad bit more hp than the new M3, but it should have quite a bit more torque since it has a 5.0L engine vs 4.0L in the M3. the 8spd auto should be faster than any manual and on par with M3's SMG auto.

the 4.9 factory estimate is always conservative, the IS350 already does 4.9 stock, that car should be doing low to mid 4 seconds. well see when they come out if it will match up against the M3 in overall performance. but acceleration wise it should be a tad faster than the M3 due to the torque advantage.

the IS-F is a tough one to call for me aesthetically. At some angles it looks ok to good, but at other angles.... I have to try and dig it. I guess I wanted to want this car. Maybe a test drive will suffice some day

Im more intrigued with the Mazda Ryuga and the Toyota FT-HS.
