M3 and M3 Convertible

Likely a repost of some sort. Well, the coupe looks a lot better than the convertible imo. The coupe did lose its aggressive styling. It looks like it grew up, but a bit too much. Im sure without doubt it will be a beast. I just hoped for a sportier look.

i cant say it really lost its aggressive styling. the front air damn and fenders still give it a very aggressive stance IMHO. it might just be the fact its not as square and more rounded that gives it that appearance. fortunately its the way of most car designs to be more rounded just like the next gen G coupe!! I like it!!

it is extremely sexy looking to me. M cars are not about being tacky and standing out so everyone looks at them. its not the type of car for people that craves attention to begin with. most non-car enthusiats cant tell it apart from regular 3 series. I like the suble agressiveness of this E92.

hmm. I do want to see it in person. That may change my mind there. Is the price still under speculation?

Won't the prices for the new M3 be close to the current 6-series prices? Depending on performance, why would anyone buy a 6-series then if the new M3 is faster and comes with the option of a hardtop vert?

^I think the power difference is 50 hp and an even larger gap w/ respect to torque.

and yes, those seats are nice!

Say the new M3 comes out with 400hp and 360tq (comparable to the 6-series). Add in a hardtop version for say $5-10K less than the 6-series vert currently at $80k+. Wouldn't this new M3 be the clearly better car/buy? Styling maybe slightly different but you get virtually a better car for less.

Im kinda seeing your point but lets say the M3 comes at 400-425 hp. the M6 has 500hp and a smoother motor in a V10. Thats up to 100 hp difference. Thats significant enough to keep the prices different and not step on each others toes. I think the new M3 wont be anywhere near the M6 price. the M6 starts in the 90s.

Why would someone buy a 530 instead of a 330? Same powerplant in a larger car resulting in less performance... but some just want the larger car, or the prestige associated with a higher price...

Not feeling it yet, but I may come around in time. I really liked the E46 M3 styling.
