jay z is commercial hip hop...no respect. i lost respect for hova after he released 'in my lifetime: vol 2 - hard knock life'. Thats some soft a$$ BS rap if you ask me. "reasonable doubt" and "in my lifetime:vol1" were his classic albums...everything released now IMHO is trash.

Same goes for Nas...i loved his Illmatic album, it was written album...after that he lost his roots and became commercial w/ his 'I am' album and that ghey a$$ song w/ P Diddy 'Hate me now'...

anybody got that old Firm album?? thats some classic ****..you got AZ, Nas, Foxy and even some Nore all on one album

dont even get me started w/ wu-tang...i loved the first raekwon, ghostface, method, ODB, RZA, GZA albums. The second/third (whatever album they are at now) are all WACK IMHO!!!

Oh BTW, I feel strongly that the RZA is/was hte heart w/ his beats. once they all went solo many of them lost RZArector beats. true they still got lyrical skills (rebel INS - inspekta dek and Gza have the sickest lyrics IMO) but w/o a beat most ppl wont pick up the albums they sell.

their greatest piece of work all together was their first album 36 chambers and their double album wu tang forever!!

I cant fualt JayZ for going commercial, hes gotta make that dough. Otherwise hed be stuck and going no where like Canibus. I dont really compare comerical rap what you guys are talking about, its pretty much a different category. As long as its good club music, they are straight. dont fake like yall dont get giggy wit it wit the punjabi, you know pratik be hippidy hoppin to that in his car everyday.

This is what put Nas on the map...he was 18 at the time...

LIVE AT THE BBQ by Main SOurce and Nas

[Nas]
Street's disciple, my raps are trifle
I shoot slugs from my brain just like a rifle
Stampede the stage, I leave the microphone split
Play Mr. Tuffy while I'm on some Pretty Tone ****
Verbal assassin, my architect pleases
When I was twelve, I went to hell for snuffin Jesus
Nasty Nas is a rebel to America
Police murderer, I'm causin hysteria
My troops roll up with a strange force
I was trapped in a cage and let out by the Main Source
Swimmin in women like a lifeguard
Put on a bulletproof ***** I strike hard
Kidnap the President's wife without a plan
And hangin *****z like the Ku Klux Klan
I melt mics till the sound waves over
Before steppin to me you'd rather step to Jehovah
Slammin MC's on cement
Cause verbally, I'm iller than a AIDS patient
I move swift and uplift
your mind shoot the gift when I riff in rhyme
Rappin sniper, speakin real words
My thoughts react, like Steven Spielberg's
Poetry attacks, paragraphs punch hard
My brain is insane, I'm out to lunch God
Science is dropped, my raps are toxic
My voicebox locks and excels like a rocket

the message is my fav nas song.

if you really read nas' lyrics though its amongst the top but its not really that much better than a lot of people, its the way he controls the tempo when he raps make them sound so tight.

I heart nas.

The new Jay-z's album sucks.....not feeling it at all. Also Doctors Advocate by Game is not that good either, Game's first album in my opinion was a classic, however only song that's worth listening to is the song California Vacation & Doctors advocate with Busta Rhymes.

how does him being on a game show before he was famous change or have anything to do with what he does now? I think he was gangsta from day 1.
