I have a Sony LCD HD as well. Which kind do you have? I love it. Picture quality side by side with other TV's wasnt a comparison. I think Sony products are overpriced but when it comes to TV's i trust them.

You're pretty much correct. Anything that is interlaced pretty much sucks.

Most newer HDTVs support 720p or 1080i, with the high end top of the line supporting 1080p.
Right now, almost everything is broadcast or output in 720p or 1080i. There are alot of comparsions on the net
but its my opinion that 720p is better then 1080i. A higher resolution thats interlaced doesn't really beat
progressive scan.

1080p is the best, but its expensive and very very limited in use.

I agree when im watching sports over at my friends house, we usually prefer 720p over 1080i.

im not knocking 1080i at all, its freaking awesome. its just that 1080p seems to be even more awesome and a lot of video game editors swear by its superiority.
im hoping by the time ps3 comes out 1080p will be cheaper and more affordable.
right now its still too new and the price dosnt justify its means. im hoping ps3 being the comercial jugarnaut that it is would change that.

GT4 and Madden 2k6 on my rear project was really good. I don't think most people can tell 1080i fron 720p, i heard they're very close. It looks much better on my rear project than lcd, which is mostly the case. rear projection seem to look better to me than lcd/plasma.

I bought a cheap Syntax Olevia 26" for $500(finally got all my rebates) . and it looks very good for $500..haha. dvd display through my upconvert is awesome. The problem with LCD to me, is regular cable output, HD cable is a different story but regular def input comes out terrible on LCD. They fair much better on rear project.

LCD TVs are to me just what Khoa said. Not good for standard definition. LCD projection is even worse. When it comes to High Def, LCDs are nice but LCD projection still fails. Besides, LCDs cant display true black. These are a few of the reasons I chose DLP. The technology with DLP keeps getting better and better on a fast basis. I didnt do my homework thoroughly with plamsa, but when it comes to High Def TVs, if you guys thing Sony is the ish, you have not looked at a Mitsubishi. IF I had the dough, I would have forked out for one of those.

Sonys are usually themost expensive when it comes to tv's - at least from what I've seen. Ironic part is my cousin has a Samsung 50" DLP and when he sees mine thinks its a lot sharper. The catch to me was my cable card tuner in my Sony renders it a lot better than your Comcast or *** cable box would. Maybe thats why my quality is so good since it uses its own HDTV Tuner

The thing is, samsung uses the same hardware in all of their sizes so being that I have the smaller size, it looks better imo.

hahahaha riiiiiiiiight, I just try to make my paper work for me. Seeing that 56" for that price makes me jealous. about 6 months ago, I got my 42" for only 150 less than that

ah well, that happens heh.

The weird thing is, when I replace this one with a next gen TV within 2-3 years, either I sell this one or have one bomb @ss TV for the bedroom
