Positive Experience at Passport and some news on IOC

Got back an hour ago from Passport Infiniti. I got an oil change and got a couple of warranty items looked at. Ryan Myers was my service rep. Interestingly, after I met him, we both realized that Ryan was the rep helping me at IOC with my 30k service. I posted up a positive review of my 30k service and I would say a good part of it was due to Ryan. As before, Ryan was prompt, answered my questions, and was knowledgeable and friendly. I ended up getting a couple extra things done (Power Steering flush, Brake fluid flush) as well. Because of this, he threw the oil change in for free. Then again, I brought my own Mobil 1 for them to use anyhow.

Anyhow, after talking to Ryan a bit, he told me that he and the techs that he worked with all bailed IOC and moved over to Passport. He mentioned that there was a bit of an exodus at IOC's service department. I mentioned about the issues surrounding IOC related to the forum members here. He didn't chime in his opinion, but then again he didn't seem surprised.

Unfortunately, one of the warranty items required a part that they didn't have in stock so Ryan will give me a call when it comes in so I can take it back again. +1 for Passport Service! Too bad they are on the other side of Fairfax County from Dulles. -_-;

Actually, I used to take my car to Passport until I moved. Then it became a 45min-1 hour drive just to get there...

tranny or clutch? i'm assuming you're talking about the clutch.... I just went with another oem clutch and it was about 400, reason being is my tranny was being replace under warranty, so the service manager there told me if I put in a new clutch now I won't have to pay for labor because the tranny is already being taken out under warranty...

gotcha... how bad was your tranny for them to replace it? I'm not sure how much synchro grinding is inherent in our cars vs. what is considered defective...

^+1 - my synchros seem to have a limited range of operation, i.e., they're happy if you execute a very good rev-match, but let you know when you aren't quite matched up.
