First time at the track... fairly happy with ET and trap speed...

Well I finally made time to take my G37s 7AT (sedan) to the track and i'm fairly happy with the results.

First run ever in this car
2.213 60'
13.801 @ 102.82 MPH

I backed that up with another 13.8, but then had two fantastic runs with 2.0 60' times...

Best run of the night...
2.065 60'
13.623 @ 102.82 MPH

My other good run was a 13.655 @102.77 MPH. I also ran three 13.7's. Oh, and I nearly cut a perfect light with a -.001 R/T. Too bad that's a negative... I red lighted, but bearly.

I had hoped to equal the awesome run that Motor Trend ran but it just wasn't going to happen tonight. The best runs were with the 7AT in D. I tried the paddles but kept hitting the rev limiter. I sure wish it would shift when I tell it to...

All in all, it's not too bad for a N/A 6Cyl family sedan!

I've been planning on taking my G to the track but no time. I've done a 145mph on a interstate towards Utah. What's your top speed?

Thanks guys.

My car is completely stock and I left the 7AT in D. I don't know how much difference this made, but I had a 1/4 tank of gas and removed the spare tire and jack. I'm sure less weight helped a little.

Is the X supposed to be faster? I'm sure it may launch better but doesn't it weigh more too?

As for top speed I've only gone about 120 or so.

I'm sort of green to this stuff... what does the 60' reading mean? Is that 2.065 seconds to travel the first 60 feet?

Those are some good times. Did you trying running in DS at all?

TinsleyC - you are correct about the 60', it reflects how well you launch the car and get off the line.

Hey - what was your technique - did you just hammer it, or did you gradually apply the throttle, or did you brake torque or what?

Wow even faster than the numbers I'd seen in youtube about the comparison between the SHO & the G37 sedan. I'm happier

I had never drag raced a car with an automatic transmission, so I'm still not 100% happy with my launch technique. I had my left foot on the brake and brought the RPM's up between 1500 and 2000. I pretty much just hammered it once the last yellow light lit up. I got a little wheel hop which I wasn't too crazy about, but it left the line pretty well.

After thinking about it, I wish I would have tried the RPM's at 1000. I think my best runs were when I was at about 1500 and worst ones at 2000, but I never tried 1000...

Since first gear is so short, I really think a 1.9 60' is possible which would definately allow me to hit a 13.5 (or better...).

Also, I never tried DS but probably should have just to see what happens. Actually, I think DS is designed more for road racing based on it's behavior holding gears, so I'm not sure that it will shift any quicker. Who knows though, maybe I'll try that next time.

Has anyone heard of any actual G37 owners matching Motortrend's 13.5 @ 105 run?

I Love going to the track....such a blast. MotorTrend's got me beat on the E/T, but I got'em at the top! Check my sig...106.55! That's amazing that you got a 2.0 60'.....best 60' I was able to put down so far was a 2.100

Can't wait to go back!

WOW, 106 MPH?!?!?!? That is awesome man!

And my 2.0 60' didn't allow me to best your ET, you beat me by 1/100th of a sec...

Anyone else on here run a 13.6X?

Who has the best ET for a sedan on the forum?
