Did you run with the VDC on or off? I would think that if on, it might lower the throttle output a bit if it encoutered even a little slippage.

While slippage isn't good, I'm not sure backing off the throttle is any better.

Or did you get good grip off the line? I doubt tire spin was any issue at all past 2nd gear.

You have to run vdc off, because your tires will spin some at launch, and then at probably at various points in gears 1-3.

The biggest issue is trying to get as much torque off the line while at the same time limiting wheel spin. If I am not careful I will spin out and fishtail, which is not conducive for a good 60'. So I am always keen to hear about other's successful launch techniques.

I always had the VDC off which resulted in tire spin off the line. This should be expected with the amount of power the G's have coupled with how short first gear is.

I don't mind having some tire spin, but I was also getting a bit of wheel hop. I think that was because I left at too high an RPM. Next time I will keep the rev's at or below 1500 and see what happens...

Personally, my best runs come from no brake torquing at all, just when the tree says go, slipping foot L off the brake simultaneously slamming the go pedal down with foot R. In D. Always gives me the best runs. Using that 'technique' I;ve gotten a 2.2x 60' and a 13.58 quarter at 106 mph. I think my 330' was 5.8, and my 1/8 was 8.89 @ 96mph.

My G doesn't like brake torquing, plus infiniti has that built-in throttle restriction if your foot is on the brake and your rpms go above a certain amount (to avoid the Toyota debacle).

Now, My G8 loved brake torquing. Ideally one brake torqued to beginning max engine torque in that car, which was around 2200 rpm, so you start off with maximum available torque. Shooting off the line with around 400 ft/lbs of torque is pretty fun.

I'm impressed you ran a 13.5X at 106 with a 2.2x 60'. Was your car completely stock? Maybe you have one of the really good ones!

With previous cars I've had, a tenth saved in the first 60' usually cut off almost 2 tenths at the end. Doesn't seem to be the case with the G. Maybe that has to do with 1st and 2nd being extrememly short? I dunno...

I'll have to look at my time slips again and see how I did at the 330' and 1/8. It was pretty humid the night I ran, I wonder if that hurt me any?

First run ever in this car
2.213 60'

I backed that up with another 13.8, but then had two fantastic runs with 2.0 60' times...

Best run of the night...
2.065 60'
13.623 @ 102.82 MPH

My other good run was a 13.655 @102.77 MPH. I also ran three 13.7's. Oh, and I nearly cut a perfect light with a -.001 R/T. Too bad that's a negative... I red lighted, but bearly.

I had hoped to equal the awesome run that Motor Trend ran but it just wasn't going to happen tonight. The best runs were with the 7AT in D. I tried the paddles but kept hitting the rev limiter. I sure wish it would shift when I tell it to...

All in all, it's not too bad for a N/A 6Cyl family sedan!
Paddle shifts lag a bit just like the DS mode manual shift, try a Black Betty grounding kit, that helped basically anything electronically controlled in the car (automatic shifts, down shifts, throttle response ect)

Actually I bought a Black Betty Grounding Kit months ago but still haven't made time for the install. I really need to get that done one of these days...

Oh yeah a bad DA really adversely affects the VQ. I'm not sure why. My L76 v8 was less affected. I run slower in the summer as well.

I think my car was one of the fiester ones - also, during it's first 10k I drove it like a bat out of hell. I've read that helps. I also have a tune which has made a decent difference as well.

I have plans in the next few weeks to go with a friend of mine who has a l 2008 Mustang gt with a cai at one or more speedways. He claims he can only muster a high 14s 1/4 at best. Which is terrible for his car - I think there must be a shifting issue, lol.
