The cincy chapter of the SCCA is doing a PDX at Bluegrass on the weekend of May 14th to 17th.

I just thought I'd give everyone a heads up since the registration opens on march 28th and it will probably sell out quickly.

The PDX includes 80 minutes of track time spread out through four sessions (20 minutes each).

It seems like a really great oppurtunity to drive Bluegrass at speed for around $200.

I hate to sound like a salesman for bluegrass, but I visited there yesterday and drove the track and just wanted to put out some feedback.

First of all, Kurt, the VP of sales couldn't have been more helpful.

You really have to visit the track to fully appreciate the design. The arial view only shows about half of the picture. After making the long trip down the 3/5 mile back straight, you are commited to a series of positive and negative camber corners. The track also features some serious elevation change.

I took my girlfriend with me. She agreed to go only if she was allowed to keep my wallet in her possesion the entire time. She's not much of a car nut to say the least. She ended up being completely impressed with the track however.

From the sounds of it, the track will be opening at the beginning of May. I plan to join, it just seems like too much fun to pass up.

If anyone else decides to join let me know. I'd love to see some other g37's down there.

Is it really worth joining to get to use the track a few times a year vs. going through a track day promoter to save the membership fee? When I visited the site a few weeks ago, the membership was pretty steep for an average G owner.

Sorry for the momentary thread-jack, but with the weather starting to turn around we should all try to meet up and check out each other's mods. Rossab, you've got an aftermarket exhaust and suspension mods, right? Dan, other than Eibachs, have you done anything else?

I'm up in Dayton, Dan's over in Blue Ash, and Namir's in NKY. Any suggestions on a good place for a quick get-together?

I'm doing my Injen CAI tonight or tomorrow. I work in Blue Ash, but live in Cincinnati. We could meet at one of the parks, like Eden or Ault parks. Just a thought.

Just found this old thread. Did you ever go to this track? I'm looking for a place where I can really open up my G, and not have to worry about cops, safety, etc...

Also, Seatownboy, you've got an Athens Blue 6MT? I've been driving around Cinci since I got my car in May, and I thought I was the only one in the whole area!

The track seems like it's a bust. I went down there in april and drove the track at 35 mph, just opening it up on the back straight. It's an awesome track but from what I hear, the construction process isn't being managed properly. The track was supposed to open early spring and it's august already and they haven't given any updates since june.

If you want to drive a track at speed, you should try doing a PDX or HPDE. I went to the cincy scca PDX at Mid-Ohio and it was awesome. The g did great around the track. I kept up with a Mustang Gt-500. I even passed a ferrari f-430, the guy was driving it a bit slow.

If you want to track the car, I'd recommend atleast upgrading the brake pads, the stock pads heated up really quickly into the session and I was getting some fade.

Forgive my ignorance... but I don't know what a PDX or HPDE is! I looked at the Mid-Ohio website but it looked like there trying to sell day long packages, with training, and all the rest. Is there anywhere I can go just to drive the car for an hour or so?

Let me know if you go to a track again. Maybe we can hook up and take the G's.

No track around us will let you just jump on and take a couple laps.

PDX's are put on through the SCCA and HPDE's are put on through NASA. Basically you'll go to the track around 8:00 in the morning, you'll get some instruction, and you'll drive 20 minute sessions all day.

As a beginner you'll have an instructor in the car. Once you get better you'll be able to go out on your own.

There are also a couple of private companies that do track days. Do a search for 10 / 10ths motorsports. They do a couple around the midwest. I think they are going to be a Putnam Park near Indianapolis, IN this weekend.

Typically the HPDE or PDX events are around $200 per day. The private events are around $250. 10/10ths does the whole weekend for around $450.

I was thinking about doing the 10/10ths events this weekend but I'm pretty much broke because I'm building a house.
