i went to the tracks and practiced my launching for the first time today. dropping the clutch at lower rpms bogged my car down. starting at 3-4k rpm and then flooring the gas while feathering the clutch gave me a 2.3 60ft time. my last run, i started feathering at a lil over 4k rpm and got a 2.1 60ft. i wish i had a few more tries to play with the take off to see what works best.

i dont understand, so ur reviving up to about 3-4k rpm then u feather it out and floor it or floor it then feather it out?

whats the 2.3-2.1 60ft?

and feather out means like slowly realese correct?

so i had it reved up a little past 4. right as the light was turning green, i floored the gas while releasing the clutch half way or so up to a point where i felt the friction and power being delivered to the wheels. as soon as my car caught traction i released the rest of the clutch.

as far as shifting to other gears. i havent figured out whether its best to shift at redline or right before it. shifting a couple hundred before redline MAY have helped my mine time but it was by a small amount so it could have happened just because of the run variation

lastly, a 60 foot time is basically how quick your car goes from 0 to 60 feet. it is a reflection of how good your launch is

if you left and floored it when the light was turning green your already too slow. right when the light turns yellow you should be taking off. thats how you will get the best times at a tree...

haha the whole 'green light' deal was easier for explanation.. i did all this at the yellow stage light right before the green

my car is at 4400 miles and my first HARD launch EVER was my first run at cali speedway. 100+ deg weather, headwind, and 1500+ (or so i hear, but not so sure thats correct) ft elevation = disaster for a track. i red lighted, blew it and ran a 16.4..

i went and practiced a couple more launches and took my time down to 14.9 for the next two runs with a 2.3 60'

on my fourth run i hit a 14.5 with a 2.1 60ft. this is with a fully loaded pig. haha thats a 2 second improvement.. i need more practice to hit a more decent time...

my buddy with an m3 with headers, pulleys, intake, exhaust, tune, and light wheels could not break into the 13s so that gives you a hint at the conditions. heres one of our races when i ran a 14.9... watch us smoke the train haha

also... snaps to all the Gs that came out.. they did wonderful! with a few more runs and experience i hope to keep up with ya guys
