Improving driver feel/feedback

Hi, everyone this is going to be my first post on myg37. I apologize if it's in the wrong place or if I did something wrong. I've had a g37x sedan for 2 months and love it. I thought it handled superbly until I drove an E96 M3 a few weeks ago... I would like the g37 to handle/feel as good or better than the m3 and I'm willing to spend. So far my only modifications have been megan coilovers, r1 rotors, and Hawk HPS Brake pads with Castrol SRF Racing fluid. It's already a huuge difference but still no m3. I plan on doing polyurethane bushings basically everywhere possible for driving feel/feedback. I also want to install hotchkis Sway Bars, Soul Function bracing everywhere possible, rear differential braces, and a 1.5:1 steering quickener to fix the horribly slow steering ratio. I know a superbly qualified welder and metalworker who can do the quickener so safety won't be a concern there. I'm wondering what other modifications would improve driver feel and handling? Any and all big or little modifications are welcomed! I want the best handling g possible for it's weight. An m3 weighs more but feels lighter after all. I should mention I'm not a straight-line speed guy and mostly plan on doing autox and track days with my g. Thanks!

Though you can definitely improve the feel it will never be an M3. Many fans will say the opposite but that is the reality. Being an X is already making things a bit heavier on your end. The steering ratio on these cars are determined by different size tie-rods and Sport model alignment.
Because your car is an X this might interfere with the workings of the AWD system. Poly bushings will improve feel but will give you vibrations whether folks want to admit it or not.

I've done research on the steering quickener, and the steering angle sensor can be recalibrated when I get an alignment. As long as full lock is the same as before, the car will know the wheel angle based on how far the steering wheel is from lock. And I don't care about vibrations. I want to change every little possible thing to make this car handle like an absolute dream, short of gutting it. Comfort is not a concern, as the coilovers already ruined that. Thanks for the advice! I'm literally willing to mod every small little thing that anybody can possibly think of for handling/feel. Also, I bought the x because it has the same AWD system as a GTR minus the rear lsd. How about a rear lsd? Front? Any recommendations are welcomed.

Sorry to say, but the Megan coilovers aren't the best to provide the best handling or feedback. Consider looking at truly highend dampers from Moton, Koni, Penske to get truly exceptional damping and feedback.

Thanks for the recommendations! Yeah I'm aware I definitely could've made a better choice than megan lol...

Swap out the Rear Sway Bar and it will feel more planted and neutral. The X Rear Sway Bar is tiny. It will greatly reduce body roll

I know you said no gutting, but removing all the flooring, welding the chassis(since you know a good welder) and adding some luxury sport mats to cover the removed flooring will take out some weight and add rigidity. And it doesn’t look too terrible.

I’m partial to the diamond stitching floor mats myself. You can find them all over the place(I’ve seen ads on the book face) just find a set that are cut specifically to the car and boom no one will ever know. Minus you of course you sneaky devil you.

Can you elaborate on that? What flooring are you removing, and what are you welding?

I believe he's referring to gutting the carpet and possibly sound proofing and put some lighters ebay/amazon full floor mats to hide/mask it.

For the look and difference plus the amount of road noise you'll get it's not worth it.

correct. Removing carpet and sound proofing. How worth it it is is subjective. I knocked it out in about 2 hours while I had nothing else to do and noise has never been an issue for me, just turn up the music.

Full roll cage. Will stiffen the chassis for sure. Put that welder to work.

Usually folks that step into these cars prefer other options. Most times these cages need to be welded, if they can be modified to be removed it will mean that the front bars by the A pillars will either bend to accommodate the dash or dash will need to be drilled for that.
Cages are unpopular in the G chassis being that the Z is such a better platform to do it most folks just go that route. Also being that a full roll cage would eliminate the rear seat why bother with the extra weight and work and just get a Z and go that route.

well, he did say he knows a good welder lol.

true, depends on how much you like having back seats.

a 5 or 6 point wouldn’t be too bad (where you don’t need to go through the front) but yeah, depends on how many passengers you typically have.

Does Koni really make products for the X? Headed to their site now... lol welllll it just seems like options for the sport model. Why wouldn't these work for us X owners?
