Quick help on CF splitter: to clear coat or not to CC?
As you may know I recently bought CF splitters for the front and the sides of my ride. I had planned on purchasing from Outcast garage but found that R1 auto works prices are around $60 cheaper.
On outcasts website it states that CF splitters should be clear coated before installation to maintain that luster and shine over time. On R1's website (which is garbage btw, sorry) it says nothing...absolutely nothing at all.
I've called R1 3 times this week with no callbacks. I've emailed R1 with no responses yet. Does anyone happen to know the answer to this question???
I can tell you that looking at the CF splitter from R1, it doesn't look like it needs anything. Mirror like shine. But if I can't get an answer here and R1 doesn't return my emails or calls I think I should err on the side of caution and have them all cleared anyway. Thoughts? Advice? Answers would be fantastic!

By the way, our IPL side splitters are actually designed for the IPL side skirt. We had ours custom molded so that it hugs the IPL's wavy and irregular shaped side skirts to give it a perfect fit.

Thank you for the response Outcast. I really appreciate it. I would've purchased from your site (I even bought the VIP membership and a decal) but I found a sweet deal on some that were used.
So your suggesting just one layer of automotive clear coat correct?

Yes! A single coat will do the job!

To anyone out there debating on buying from outcast vs R1 auto works....you need to stop and consider something before clicking "buy." At least with R1 anyway. I purchased my front splitter from R1 rather than outcast garage BC I wanted to save $50. On a $360 product this is quite a bit of savings. However, it took R1 literally a week or more to get my splitter shipped to me. Not to my front door shipped, like shipped out of their warehouse shipped.
Then when I ran into my question about the clear coat issue. Where outcast states it clearly on their easy to work with and tons of great products for sale website. R1 has only 4-6 items FS on the entire site, they state ZERO info about things like clear coating etc, and no one from R1 has gotten back to me still!!!! I called and left voicemails, sent multiple emails, and if it were not for outcast garage coming to the rescue of a traitor that bought from the competition I would still be worried that I would be making the wrong decision.
Lesson learned guys. Buy from Outcast garage!!!
recommend doin at least a few coats.. ive installed a cf hood and side skirts on my other car from the same manufacturer...
one with multiple coats and the other with single.. the single coat over time has discoloration.. as in yellowish than the other..

Thank you Outcast Garage! I'm having my shop do a single coat of clear.

Well it's certainly funny how things workout sometimes! You'll understand that comment in a second. But it seems like your excellent customer service (even tho I wasn't a customer and bought from a competitor) is going to translate into a sale immediately rather than down the modding road a bit.
The body shop that did the install on all my new mods did a wonderful job. Except for one thing lol. You guessed it, the front CF splitter. They predrilled 11 Tiny holes in the splitter that turned out to be around an 1.5" too far forward. They are difficult to see, but I didn't spend all this money to have a less than perfect car. The body shop insists on purchasing a new one anyway.
So first of all I need to buy a new CF splitter from OutCast Garage this time! Secondly, is there anything that can be done to recoupe some of the value of the first CF splitter? Some process that you can do to correct the 11 imperfections? If not it's no big deal. I'm sure someone would be willing to pay a couple hundred bucks for a front splitter that's been installed but never used.
Let me know asap plz. Bc I'm going online to your website this evening or petals Tom to get the new one on the way. Thx

If the 11 holes are not visible when properly installed (New re-mounting holes). There would still be value in the front splitter.
If the holes are visible when properly installed, then you would have two options to proceed from there.
Option 1: The front splitter would have to be moved back until they're hidden underneath the front bumper. Then the rear of the splitter will have to be trimmed since it will be hanging out pass the back of the front bumper.
Option 2: Turn the front splitter into a painted front splitter. Fill in the 11 holes, and paint over it.

Thank you!
