HKS Catback only =loss power?

Hey guys,

So I had my HKS cat back installed and I didn't notice any gains. At the track I actually lost to my friend's e46 m3 on a straight by a car length when we used to be dead even everytime. Multiple runs on the straight, same results. On the butt dyno I didn't feel any gains after the cbe.

Is my car running too lean now? I hear this happens with just cai but didn't know that happens with cbe. I have no other power mods.

Could it be a ad install? I hear a high pitch almost high frequency sound when I idle, maybe a leak?

What is your friends M3 usual trap speed? Manual or smg?

Did you get a tune after the CBE install? It could be that you're running too rich. I would take it to get a tune, just to be on the safe side anyway and make sure you aren't running too lean.

It's manual, forgot what the trap speed was.

I have to wait to get the rest of my bolt ons and then tune.

Wasnt it already said that catbacks in our cars at best give 2-3 hp, and they are mostly aesthetics + sound. It's the cats that hold up roughly 9rwhp as some have dyno already.
Headers swap was also quite low under ~10rwhp. Then tune is a must.
Majority of bolt ons were not very significant unless you added SC or dual snails on top of it.
Correct me someone please.

I think you are right but will have to get the hfc to know first hand. I think I lost some power low end and gained it back top end, so it's a wash.
