Y Pipe

I searched the forums and could not find an answer to what I was looking for. I want to start upgrading the exhaust, but do not have the money to do everything at once. I have a 2008 G37S/automatic. Everything on my car is stock. I was looking into just buying the Y pipe now and adding more later. Is this a good idea? Will it add any more horse power?

Thanks for the help

Or you could start at the front and work back? Y-pipe isn't a bad idea... I would start with HFC's or Art/test pipes first. Do you have a set budget?

My budget is looking to be around 250 for the part. Top Speed exhaust has the Y pipe for 199.

Topspeed dude save your money and buy quality parts. Secondly, installing just a Ypipe and then Re-visiting uninstalling the mid a second time is pointless. Best advice is save and change the entire exhaust at the same time.

^^^ This.

I started with a Y-Pipe, then had to sell it, as I bought a complete cat back.

Save your sheckles for a complete system.

Thanks for the advice. What do you think will be the best bet with a 250-300 budget. I want to do something to the car.

Buy some used hfcs and then figure out what exhaust u want. Go to a meet to hear different options in person. Most exhausts include the y pipe. If u dont want hfcs save up ur money for a quality exhaust. I will tell you the y pipe is one of the single most important parts of the exhaust on a vq engine. The wrong y pipe will rasp like crazy, esp if combined with test pipes or lets say berk hfcs. Motordyne xyz with the resonated section is one of the best sounding y pipes with good power if u do. If not, Resonated hfcs are your best bet for a nice sound without deceleration hisses and rasp. But go to a meet and hear different options in person. Cameras do not quite do them justice.

Thanks ECain. I looked at the HFCs that Kevelteam was selling but they are for the manual. I have an automatic.

I was wondering how a aftermarket y pipe would sound on a stock exhaust
