I just bought my 2008 G37s M/T Coupe 2 weeks ago. And already I'm getting curious about the best mods to cut weight and add power. I love this car! And I'd love to give it an edge.

Let me know what you guys have found to be effective, reliable, and not problematic.

Intake, grounding wires (auto), wider rear tires, suspension, (FI), money brotha..

 

Search engine is your friend..

 

Take out your spare tire, jack, tools and keep a small air compressor ($20 at Autozone) and a plug/patch kit in your trunk. This will save you probably 30 lbs. You are screwed if you get a blow out though.
Remove the lining in the trunk.
Remove floor mats.
Remove your engine cover, battery cover, etc.
Empty the glove box and center console.
Aftermarket exhaust, wheels, rotors, light weight pulleys
I think that's about it without making your car look like @#%#

 

It's probably just easier for HIM to hit the gym & lose weight to go faster lol.

Well Martino.....if you wanna lose car weight, I would imagine every little bit helps.....if you don't need it, take it out.

 

Yeah those 3lb mats are defiantly gonna be a key factor..hey while you're at it you might as well drive naked..boom..nother 3-4lbs shaved off.

Get some lighter wheels. Our stock 19s run like 26-27 lbs. I'm currently looking for some lightweight 18s. Enkie RPF1s are like 18 lbs. I think they say that every 10lbs of unsprung weight = 100 lbs o actual weight. 100 x 4 = 400 lbs lost. That would put you close to the same weight as the 370z.

racing seats (the oem leather seats are about a 100 lbs)
get rid of back seat
get rid of door panels
carbon fiber drive shaft
forged 19" volk le37 rims
carbon fiber hood
carbon fiber trunk

^ all that is looking more than $10,000, in other words just go twin turbo

 

Gonna start naked track days... just helmet. Haha. I remember someone asking this question previously and they took out their rear seats to cut lbs.

 

What's the point of getting a luxury coupe and then gutting it? Yes, its sporty - but getting rid of the back seat, floor mats, carpet?? Seems to be like that really isn't worth the .2 seconds off your 0-60 times.

Maybe just start off with the Nissan?
