When is it too late to modd your car?

The cars I've modded most were well worn. I liked to blue print and mod the engine, so old works. Somehow it seems a shame to pull a new motor, replace new pistons, etc. Some may feel the same about rotors, springs, etc. (Not that I wouldn't do it in a hartbeat given the right project.) You only go around once. Make the day count.
Edited to correct spellcheck! :-)
