Splitter safe without turnbuckles?

I see a number of G's on here with a splitter but no turnbuckle; is this a safe practice or just a different design?

I fully understand not wanting to drill into the fascia but does it lose its functionality and/or cause other issues?

It's perfectly safe. The only reason you need turnbuckles is if you want to adjust the splitters angle. And if you're driving fast enough to be worried about that then there is a whole other discussion to be had

The reason you'd want turnbuckles at high speed is to adjust the angle and change the downforce on the front, not to hold it on.

i know that. i was just letting the OP that he doesn't need the turnbuckles if he's worried about it staying on

it s safe unless you plan on tracking the car and hitting excessive speeds repeatedly.

My splitter was secured fine without turn buckles, even hitting speeds around 120 without any issue or vibration. I secured about 15 or so nuts with bolts from underneath so they were not visible...

But watch out for **** that jumps out at you on the freeway ... That's another story, but as you can see the splitter still held it's own against freeway debris.... Did not fall off, but broke instead.

Actually it was pretty strong and took quite an impact... Poly is a bit stronger than fiberglass, but it's also not repairable.

Yeah, I miss my splitter, it was simple but looked really clean... But I think I'm going to be trying something else real soon.

The splitter saved your bumper! niceee...

The splitter holds up pretty good, but I highly recommend using at least 7 nuts and bolts instead of screws.

Thank you for the words of wisdom. I plan to go to the track a couple times this year but mostly for educational purposes rather than racing. Continual high speeds are probably unlikely at this point.

Also, it seems with a modified bracket you could attach the turnbuckle to the lower grille..has anyone attempted this?

if you go up to 145mph on the track you'll have some issues without the turnbuckles
