Exclamation Water coming in from INTAKE?

Hi guys

I am debating on a intake like the LONG TUBE STILLEN or INJEN.

From how i see it the filters come in front of the RADIATOR? with them being so exposed to the elements - how does WATER not get sucked up?

They have those water protector things that go over the actual filter that "help" avoid any water going into the filter. Otherwise, as long as the filter isn't basically fully submerged in water and you're not either idling over it for a while or you don't floor it, nothing is going to happen.

I've got the Stillen gen3 on my car and have been in rain heavy enough that I had to stop because I couldn't see...and I've had waves of water thrown onto the car by 14-wheelers in the lane next to me...

the water guards do their job just fine. You literally would have to submerge the entire front end of the car in water to have any problems with the Gen3. I haven't used the Injen so I can't speak to it much, but I've never heard of anyone with any problems

I had a vented CF hood with the Injen CAI, no problem there. Went through rainy season. Stationary or moving, intake held up fine.

Haven't heard any issues with Stillen gen3 either. People have gone with car washes and rain with them too.

I don't think the install is hard at all, it requires minimal cutting of some plastic. And NO you don't have to remove the front bumper

at the very beginning of the video (where it has the title) the rain guard is the black plastic piece up top

also, here is a pic of it (its in front of the filters)
