For those of you using beaters, how often do you have to use them instead of taking the G? Basically how many days of the year is there heavy snow? I'm unfamiliar with the area so I don't know much

Well if I get a winter beater like I plan on I will probably park my G in the garage from sometime in November until late March. It really just depends on when it snows, some years it's snowed as early as mid October, last year we only had one bad snow storm before new years really. I don't think I would drive it at all unless it was some type of emergency or just to stretch it's legs once a month or so to keep the gas from getting old.

I drove my G in the winter last year with snow tires and it did perfectly fine, that's not my reason for getting a beater. My main reason is to keep the miles low the salt off the paint.

I use my beater often, and keep it insured year round. During the winter it is my only vehicle. I usually take the winter to do mods and take serious time in doing them, making sure everything is perfect and doing other things to prevent future issues. 100% worth it to have another vehicle.

Well this answers my question of whether to keep my beater or not. 97 lumina $700 lasted me going on two years!
