BTW guys, Ryan who currently owns a Focus has been searching for a Legacy GT 5speed has found nothing. He made a thread on MNSC about other options in a sedan manual, AWD or RWD so i linked him an ad for a 04 G35 sedan 6MT in St cloud and he went and looked at it today. it is twilight blue. he really liked it.

Gonna see what they will give him for his focus tomorrow. Might have another G in the club!

Very nice!!!
Dude that leaf blower idea is bad ***... does it dry the car completely? i'm always super careful with drying my car to not get swirls (since its black and that sh't sticks out like no other). i have an electric leaf blower i'll try, but since my driveway is facing west, i usually wash my car early in the am before the sun hits the drive way and dries the soap on the car before i rinse so it'll be super load and might wake peoples up!!!

and i have this rim cleaner that i've been using... dam maybe i should stop doing that.

is this problem only able to chrome rims? or are cleaners not a good idea on any rim?

1. we're talking about Tevi's wheeeeeels!!!!!! They were in St. Paul last night so I was closer then he was to them

2. DO NOT use cleaners on polished, chrome, or painted. The PH levels will eat right through the clear eventually.

3. Yes, they come in long and short, and different colors. PM RAVSPEC (aka: Mark) and tell him Lance sent you He'll hook you up 4sho!

I see... i thought it was something relating to some new goodies.

Don't quick detailers have chemicals in em too that with this theory (which i would agree with) eat through your clear coat and then the paint?

I'll hit him up. With my stock wheels, should i get 1.25" or 1.5" lugs (i'm assuming these are the only sizes available)? i want them to be noticeable on the rear wheels too which will sit deeper. I remember Peng and I tested his lugs on my wheels but can't remember the results (too long ago!). And Mike, i remember you were in the same predicament with the front vs rear size, what did you end up doing?

Quick detailers like Mcguires have mid PH levels. They're like 95% water.

I have short lugs for my wheels. The front ones sit in pretty far because of my disk size of my front wheels to clear my calipers, and my rears are flush. 1st gen stockers...not sure what people use for aftermarket lugs...I'd just search.

I'm not sure about the whole leaf blower idea. I tried that many years ago. It just takes too damn long. I think I'll stick with soft terry cloth towels and making sure there is no dirt stuck in them.

No matter what washing regiment you use, you'll create swirls in the dark paint over time. The key is to use the orbital polisher once in awhile. Janik got me using that last year. Black paint has never looked better.

Those wheel cleaners are strong stuff. Best way to keep wheels clean is to keep a good coat of wax on them. Then when they get dirty the dirt comes off a lot easier.

later,
Curt

Hardy Har Har! And if you knew sedans better, you would know an 03 and 05 have completely different hoods, headlights, and bumpers

I am addicted to my leaf blower and it doesn't take me that long either. Maybe because mine is just a beast of a leaf blower?? Idk but it only takes me a minute or two to blow it all off. Then if water is on it, I just dab at places so i don't need to rub the towel on the paint. This is how I keep it swirl free.

Wheel cleaners aren't good. On my OEM 19" rims I just used some quick detailer and a MF towel. Literally looked brand new to the day I sold them.

Agreed. Make sure you get your paint buffed out first before you start waxing and stuff though. Last time I saw your paint, it made me cringe. Your car needs a buff hardcore.

BTW Ryan is at the dealer now. Hopefully he comes home with a G!

This is a pic he sent me yesterday on the test drive.

There isn't a twilight blue G in the MN G Crew!
