Tint Question for People in Minnesota

So I'm looking to do a high quality tint on my 08 coupe. Currently I live in Texas where they are pretty relaxed, legal limit is 25%. I was thinking of doing 30% but I am moving to Minneapolis towards the end I the summer where the law is 50% which seems ridiculous. Has anybody ever had problems with dark tint up there? I was thinking of going ahead and putting 30 on in the summer an was wondering if I would run into trouble when I move to Minnesota.

I live in Texas now and I am from MPLS. I always had trouble with getting yanked for my windows. It was bad, I am not sure how it is now though. I am sure in varies from city to city about how strict they are.

What did you have on them? And how much were the tickets if you got any?

Typically if you have 30% or lighter you won't get hassled in MN unless they are getting you for something else already. I have never been stopped just for my tint before. I run 30% on my G and on my escalade with no issues. On my DTS I used to have I was running 20% and only got a warning for it after getting busted speeding. I wouldnt worry too much if you put 30% on it.

I know this is older, but for what its worth. In my old car (much ****tier) I had 20% tint and had problems. I have never had problems with my 20% tint on my infiniti and have even been pulled over, but no comments from the popo so I would say you would be fine unless your car looks ghetto.

Legal limit is 50% as you stated, but depends on where you're at in the Twin Cities, Eden Prairie area is by far the worst, but yes ... they are pretty bad all around the metro, if I recall the ticket is pretty pricey as well. What I did, and obviously this is totally up to you. But, I did legal on the side windows and 35 on the back sides and back window. The cops use a tool that they put the sensor on both sides of the window and only do one window and since its a pain to climb in the back they use a side window... and your eyes don't notice a difference if its darker interior (I got the red interior for the 2011 IPL) Hope this helps! Best of luck.
