Oem cats cracked at 40k miles

How bad is my situation? 40k miles on these. Procharged g37 coupe. I have a set of kinetix hfc but I’m scared they’ll blow up prematurely. What’s y’all’s experience with hfc’s?

Well... This could be a give away that you're running either way too rich which for the most part for some cars doesnt always do this or that your exhaust gases are extremely hot (lean).
Both situations will overheat the core causing premature failure.
There is an event that also applies to this and is back fires/pops/burbles that will cause this as well and if your tuner has this enabled then more than likely it's your main fault.

Unsure what your exhaust setup is but anything better than stock will lower exhaust back pressure which you'll need to get gasses out of the cats faster.

Lastly a tune review as you're airfuels are probably off. This should help tremendously however other than OEM cats I've not see many aftermarket units that have surpassed 40k miles.

True, My tune was rich i know that. I’m just going with some test pipes or some long tube headers. Not trying to deal with cats blowing out/cracking on me

Go with headers since both will introduce a bit of rasp, with headers you'll get performance, the rasp can be dealt with the right resonators and mufflers.

I have ***RASP***! Current setup is Megan resonated, fleabay Y, no resonators, flowmasters with a CEL. I tried cheaping out because this car has 223k miles on it. I know I should have kept the resos. I will have to get the exhaust shop to do the work if I get resonators but if I get Kinetix I can do it. Wondering if the cheaper 1320 HF cats on fleabay will be any count. This should fix the rasp and the CEL and my MPG which took a **** due to extra rich.
