Searching for AWD coupe exhaust... how is this hard?
Hey all!
I have a 2010 G37x. That's an X at the end. Which means AWD. Just making sure that's out there. X.
I'm trying to find an exhaust from the Y pipe back (already swapped in the HFCs and a new Y) and I might as well be trying to find a needle in a basket of needles! So I've got three questions that you guys might be able to help with.
1. Is the midpipe/resonator on every G37 coupe (that's the pipe from the Y back to the muffler) the same and therefore interchangeable? There are apparently 2 different part numbers for all >2009 models (one for RWD and AWD each obviously) but when looking at pictures of them I honestly can't see the difference. I figured someone here might have more experience with this; the infiniti part number for the AWD is 20300-1nd0b while the RWD is 20300-jj50b and they look EXACTLY the same.
2. Assuming the answer to 1. is yes, would you say generally that the systems out there that specify RWD ONLY, NOT AWD, are defined as such solely because of the Y pipe? Are there any other differences in the system at all?
3. Is there any validity to the idea that any AXLE-BACK coupe exhaust (Beluga, M2, Top Speed, Megan etc) wouldn't work with an AWD? I've seen that out there a few times and I just can't see why that would be possible given there aren't any real under-body differences between AWD and RWD behind the back axle.
Thanks for reading and any info you might be able to provide!!

Options are less than awd option but are there. Might be happier if you have exhaust shop build you a custo setup. I had my exhaust shop build y pipe with 2 metallic magnaflow HFC and muffler with tips. So whole cat back exhaust cost 900 bucks or so. Good option if you want to use different exhaust size that isnt available in mass kits.
I can confirm that the axle backs fit universal rwd or awd. I also can confirm that I own a cat back tomei exhaust with tomei y pipe and all you need is an extension pipe fabricated about 1 foot because these exhausts are mainly for 370zs with less back seat room, meaning slightly shorter exhuasts.

Since you already have a Y-pipe fitted, you should be free to get whatever suits your fancy!

AFAIK it's only the Y-pipe that is different between AWD/RWD cars. The Y-pipe needs to clear the transfer case. It's also the same reason many turbo kits don't fit the AWD, nobody bothered making a downpipe to clear the transfer case, as most turbo kits originate from the RWD-only 370Z.
