Can anyone recommend a site to buy a cat converter?

I was wondering if any of you could help me find a website to buy them? The shop said I needed both sides. It's a 2012 g37xs sedan.

I don't need fancy ones, I'm not an enthusiast, there's 92k miles on the car, the cheaper the better.

Some local shops wants to charge me around 2 grand for the pair and install, which I cannot afford.

I appreciate it guys.

edit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/263803447023 $260 for a new pair on ebay? Will that work?

You'll want to look for HIGH-Flow cats. They can be had anywhere from $300-$600 depending on brand. I have Fast-Intentions. Good quality brand. They are on the higher end of the price range. They are built to order meaning you may have to wait 8-12 weeks after placing a order before they get delivered to you. If you do not want to wait that long than there are multiple of other brands.

I have been running Fast-Intentions high-flow cats for 3 years now and the only time I had a check engine light was due to a exhaust leak. I bought my FI High-Flow cats used from another member and they were developing a hairline crack over time. I got it removed and sealed the crack by paying a shop to weld over it and everything is good.

My car is a 2011 G37S RWD with 90k miles. I've had the FI HFC installed since ~35k miles.

Have you looked in the For Sale section on this forum yet? They normally run around $150 + shipping.
Also, if you let us know where you're located at, someone near you may be able to give you a great deal on a used set.

Dealer said just my left cat was bad.

I did some research on the z1's pair vs. the kinetix, and I ordered the kinetix's one's. Thanks for all of your help replies qmantran.

You going to need a tune to keep the P0420/P0430 codes from coming on. or you can try playing with steel wool

Can a local shop do the tune up? What's that going to run me?

I believe he's saying the kinetix one are more prone to throwing a light for those cats.

They don't appear to have the defoulers built in like the FI High flow cats or Z1 cats that I mentioned.

however the description for the kinetix states they don't trigger a check engine light due to retaining the factory o2 sensor location.

let us know how they work out for you.

I would have went with Z1 if I was on a budget. They come with Z1 steel gaskets (reusable) and defoulers (100% no engine light)

One thing at a time. Let's see if he throws a CEL before recommending stuffing his bung holes with steel wool.

Oh man, it's hard enough just writing that... try saying it out loud, LOL.

Got a deal, was only charged $160 for the install. The CEL was not thrown.

regarding the new kinetix cats.

-can feel vibration in my seat and door while at idle now. It's not annoying, but it wasn't there w oem's.
-while hard accelerating it sounds like a go kart or bug on a summer night. The orginal oem cats had a deeper mean sound to them
-no noticeable power gain
-cruising speed no noise or "drone" in the car, sounds normal
-my original acceleration issues appear to be fixed.

So overall not really a fan of the acceleration sound, but these were only $400 compared to oem's so, I'm fine with it.

Thanks everyone for all the input.

Just about blew morning coffee on my PC screen Too funny.

Glad you found a reasonable shop for the install and it worked out to your satisfaction. Should notice some gain, but going in you weren't really wanting them so that may play a part. If you were really wanting them you'd find some gain there, lol. As far as the seat vibration, I have that w/ my resonated test pipes but only really noticeable at cold start ups, once it's warmed up not much difference, is that the case w/ you Mr Jones?

I don't see any support brackets on the Kinetix cats. The OEM cats are connected to one another, and the underside of the transmission, with a single C-shaped support bar and thick bushings. If this install did away with that support bar, that's probably where you're getting the vibration.

That's why I had the exhaust shop weld in some brackets when they installed my FI's.

Great man glad you fixed it. The CEL will usually take 6-8k miles. Just IMO, but both sets I have had have thrown CELs at about 8k miles. Current set up included ;/

Look what just popped up in the classifieds. If the vibration and noise really bother you, you can just buy these and sell the kinetix.
