where should i install my cut out before resonator or muffler
where should i install my cut outs before resonator or before muffler. i also live in ca where is illegal however my buddy knows a shop that will pass you smog even if its going over ($200)how ever mine won't be going over but it will have an illegal mod.however id rather them be stealthy enough to pass at regaular place as ive heard most dont places check under your car. im thinking they'd be less notice able before the resonators all though i dont want to much drone.so im thinking before the muffler would be better. or should i just say **** it and do it before my cats and if so will it add performance. and will i need to do some kind of o2 bypass

Our catalytic converters are bolted to the headers, so IDK how you're going to install cut-outs before the cats, but you obviously have a well thought-out plan here. Odds are the only location that's viable would be after the resonators. What exhaust are you tapping into?
Cut-outs aren't a common thing here on the forum, so I'm curious where this goes.

Why not remove the resonators and replace them with the cutouts? I know CA is a bitch when it comes to smog laws, and not that you could install before cats, but having them after cats will eliminate the possibility for breaking smog laws. The only issue would be dB limits as Im sure cutouts are for "offroad use only". So all you need to do is never get caught with them open and you wont have a problem.
Yes there is. But some shops won't care about the cutout depending on where it's installed. Anything after-cat doesn't affect smog so they might be nice and turn a blind eye. They typically look to ensure the car has cats, o2 sensors, etc. They don't usually go around back and look at the muffler. Sound levels are not part of a smog check.
