thanks for the input slartifartfast, I'll store it in the appropriate place, along with your plethora of kind words to a new member looking for advice. Keeping in mind that the op was looking to see if straight pipes would be a good thing or a bad thing for his stock GAS powered engine. I thought that several years of running straight pipes might be of some use to the op, while you don't think it was germane to the conversation, I fail to understand your need to brag about the long list of cars you say you own, and to infer you were a professional racer and raced in Europe (France). Maybe you do own a few Nissan's , and you actually did have a seat at Le Mans "a few times". Anything is possible. I dunno tho, If I had raced in one of the worlds most prestigious races I would spell it correctly when peacocking about it.
but as you are not germane to my reality I choose not to interact with you from this point forward
I'll leave you with this..."Loud Pipes DO save lives"

Don't mind Slatarti, hes a little crotchety but seems to mean well.
We're all here for a good purpose

welcome bruv.
Hahahaha dude lemons is a parody race for budget cars. maybe if you chilled out and zipped up the little pecker maybe you would have had an intelligent thought instead of just exploding all over everyone.

that would be a good place to begin GasMonkey, and prolly the cheapest one too. Keep in mind there are loads of axle back setups that look and sound .... loud...lol
like I mentioned before, when you figure it all out drop a video back here I for one would like to hear what you ended up with.
cheers

OP asked of I knew anything about Nissans and I answered.
Not Le Mans, I raced 24 Hours of LeMons. $500 junkers. They have a web site, even...
I think catalytic converters are good things and should be left on the car. If they go bad, replace them. I don't buy the theory that catalyst dust is moving upstream to damage cylinders. Since your bike never had catalytic converters, your decision to straight-pipe is different from OP.
With over 100 years of development, the IC engine is long-known to safely run straight pipes as long as fuel metering is appropriate. Modern EFI expects a catalytic converter and meters accordingly. Without a cat, modern exhausts reek of unburned gasoline.

Not joking about exhaust smell. Fuel that has gone through the engine is supposed to have been burned almost completely. If it's not, that indicates a problem. It's no testosterone booster for me. My trigger is hot brakes.
