Impossibly small exhaust piping?!

I bought vibrant 1790s after seeing so much positive stuff on here about them paired with tanabes. I'm at the exhaust shop to have them installed and I'm looking up at the car finally and the factory piping is lik 1.5 inch from the cat all the way to the tanabe mufflers. They're working on stepping down the flanges since I can't replace all the pipe, the tanabe piping is the same diameter to the muffler. Anyone else run in to this? Wtf is this pipe so small lol

I mentioned a couple of years ago my wonder that Infiniti claims 328 hp through those soda straws. And the piping is more like 1-3/4". It's documented here somewhere.

^You're right. I've read the same info somewhere around here. Maybe on Rochester's build thread?
