Engine Problems
Long story cut short, blew engine. Supposed valve stuck open piston hitting on way up. told new engine, had engine re built. now got issues with the ECU had it replaced from America, been told now that need extra parts for the ECU due to car being an apparent Jap import (even though i bought from UK main dealer in Reading and was never told this) Parts are needed immersions regulations for UK? Question is am i being made a mug of as car has been in garage for 6 months!!!!

When I blew an engine in my 66 Volkswagen Beedle(A valve broke hitting a piston) the VW dealer gave me $500 for it towards a trade-in for a 69 Brand New VW Beedle that was $2050.00
So a brand new vehicle cost me $1550.00 and came with all new parts and a warranty. I had that vehicle until 1991 when the drivers side floorboard was rusting out and I could see the road beneath my feet.

Pretty sure the JDM engine has the exact same output as the UK and US motor with the only difference being the ECU tune due to different fuel standards. But any ECU, from the same year, should work. If they bought an entire engine/ECU as a package, from Japan, from say a Japanese wreck, then you'll most likely need a UK-spec ECU.
Rather unfortunate that the dealer needs to get a UK-spec ecu for your car. Most of the newer ecu's from other car manufacturer uses the same blank ecu for the same model(s) across the globe, and all the dealer has to do is to program/flash the ecu to UK-spec.
