hi all just ran into these aam cold air intakes. im wondering has anybody on here had any experience with these it says if running the R-lines you need to have a tune looking for more info on these and how different would they be compared to gen 3's

They are nice intakes but still don't have a mount down by the filters. I do like where the MAF sensors are placed on the AAM's compared to the Stillens. They also don't neck down at the MAFs similar to the Stillens which I like.

 

would it be worth the upgrade to change from stillen to these

 

If I'm not mistaken (and I may be because it was hard to find concert data) but then stillens have a smaller inner diameter then AAM. If you are going to have bored TBs and some work done to your intake manifolds along with a tune it might be in your better interest to go with AAM with the spacer removed ("R-line" configuration) as it sports a more flow in theory.

 

Yeah If I remember right the AAM are 2.75" all the way through. The S-line insert comes installed by the MAF so you wont need a tune and to just bolt them on. If you get a tune you can remove the internal baffle and be ready for the R-line mode and gain a bit more flow. Keep in mind, if you remove them without tuning you'll run very lean and very dangerous. In my opinion, they are the best all around option out there since they are adjustable for the power the user is after.

 

Like zer099 mentioned unless you have bored TB's and intake manifold work I think the smaller tubing of the Stillens is actually a better setup. On an NA engine velocity > volume, to an extent.
