I finally got a hold of someone at Sebring Tuning regarding pricing for the impeccable 17-22B mufflers that are used on the Fast Intentions CBE.



First off, for you Socal locals, these guys are located in Los Alamitos (North Orange County) off the 405.

They have been building mufflers for 25 years and normally sell to aftermarket tuners like Fast Intentions that build complete dyno'd/engineered systems

As it turns out, the 17-22B mufflers cost $189.00 each and they only except Paypal or cash.

The tips are also sold separately ($64).

The -B version has the tip welded on and the -A version does not, so you save some money buying the set (muffler w/ tip).

-9 inches wide
-14 inch body
-22 inches total length
-offset inlet(inboard)/centered outlet
-T304 Stainless

I plan to call my exhaust guy later this week to see what it would cost to run 2.5 inch piping off the ends of the stock resonators to these mufflers. Since the ends of the resonators are 2.35/60mm stock, the diameter would need to be increased to 2.5/70mm via a coupling. Since it is reduced in the stock form from 2.35 to under 2 inches, I don't believe it would be an issue to increase. If so, I would just run 2.35 piping back to the muffler, then increase the diameter to 2.5 at the muffler.

My thinking is that the Sebring muffler will need a bracket welded to it in order to fit into the stock hangers; this is a challenge with any universal muffler I believe. I just need to make sure that the shop can handle the T304.

Sebring recommendedtwo shops in San Diego: Warners in Oceanside and Hanson Muffler in Spring Valley.

Thanks for doing the legwork, that's a great price on those cans & tips, and the timing is pretty good as my left tip is a bit flat on the bottom from some adventurous backing out of my steep drive.

 

Hmm I wonder if we could just order tips, specifically #29 below which look like the F.I. coupe tips.

Nice research, OP! Before I received my FI catback, I knew these cans and tips would look good, but didn't realize how truly beautiful they were until they arrived. Here's a picture that shows how the hanger brackets are welded to the cans:

Coincidentally, Labree Motorsports uses or have used Sebring mufflers on their exhaust builds as well ----- and they are pretty close proximity to FI.... these sound really good on the Audi S4's....I wonder if the same company listed by the OP distributes to Labree as well....

Anyway, Sebring mufflers are very good!....I had a dual set up on my Expedition back in the early 2000's....as well as my old E36.....this might be an option for my G.....hmmmm

"Pricey" is relative. In the context of relative comparisons, the Tanabe Medalion axle-back easily costs over $500 shipped, and usually a DIY install for those so inclined.

However, if you can get these Sebring mufflers & tips purchased and custom installed for less than that, I'd call this a win.

 

The Tannabe setup also leverages the 50mm (1.9") stock piping after the midpipe resonators. If you crawl under the car, you will see that the size tapers from 60mm to 50mm right after the resonators. I'm guessing they did this on the sedan to control the tone inside the car. On the Coupe midpipe, this tapering does not occur.

Good Find! And cheaper than the Magnaflow which comes in around 209-229 per muffler.

Flowmaster also has the Super40/44, which comes in a black finish.

Flowmaster Street Mufflers - comes in Stainless Steel or Aluminized with choice of mild, moderate, aggressive, and very aggressive sound.

Not sure why everyone associates Flowmaster with trucks though??

Magnaflow prices have slowly creeped up since Chip Foose has joined their marketing camp. They used to be one of the best priced mufflers.

Sebring is definitely a value.

 

Here's the flowmaster Super 44s on a Coupe:
Doesn't sound like a truck to me.

He stuck with the stuck tips on this application. Would have turned out nicer if he installed a set of the Sebring tips. I do like how it looks stock.

 

If someone is considering purchasing Sebring Tuning cans & tips as seperate components, with a custom welding job... then IMO a similar solution with BORLA components is a viable alternative.

I've been gently recommending that for years, and have yet to come across a Sedan (here) who's gone with a custom BORLA setup. I suspect it would sound fantastic. Every BORLA exhaust I've ever heard is downright sexy.
