Which Borla muffler? Do you know of a specific one that maybe the Z guys have tried? I normally have better luck researching non-standard mods in the Z and G35 forums as those two groups seem more likely to experiment. I've even considered the G35 sedan cans as those were small hi flow mufflers that were detuned by that massive midpipe. The problem is that used versions of that muffler would be sorta old at this point, and it would not make sense to buy them new ($$$$). They did sound excellent when matched to a Magnaflow 10436 resonator.

I did this on my 04 Sedan and it sounded like an S4.

But I agree... the G-Coupe crowd experiments much more than the Sedan owners do, and the Z owners experiment more than all of us, by a number of factors.

I didn't pursue a custom exhaust solution, opting instead for the proven fitment and quality of Fast Intentions. Part of my decision making was because of the tips, I'll admit that, too. Expensive, but worth it IMO.

Sometimes mod decisions have to factor in the convenience factor for installation, particularly when engaging a mechanic for the project. Cobbling together a customized system with unknowns can be an intimidating thing.

Also check out the muffler options from Vibrant. Had a pair on my Maxima and loved them.

Flowmaster also has the Super40/44, which comes in a black finish.

Flowmaster Street Mufflers - comes in Stainless Steel or Aluminized with choice of mild, moderate, aggressive, and very aggressive sound.

Not sure why everyone associates Flowmaster with trucks though??

Magnaflow prices have slowly creeped up since Chip Foose has joined their marketing camp. They used to be one of the best priced mufflers.

Sebring is definitely a value.
Yeah the 14829. Looks like they went down in price from last I saw.

And the Sebrings still look better and cheaper than these.

Yep, I ordered the #29 tips directly from them and had them welded to my Invidia exhaust.

So I have called around to a few custom exhaust shops here in town and based on what I am hearing, I can see why some of the systems on the market currently are a value.

So essentially, to run 2.5 inch aluminium-ized steel crush bent piping from the rear of the resonators to the custom mufflers would be in the $300-400 range. Then, there is an issue with welding the right brackets onto the mufflers themselves. TIG welding would be optimal for a stainless hanger, but most shops use MIG. MIG would require a portion of the muffler to be repainted to prevent rusting.

So I'm guessing $800-900 to accomplish what I wanted to do. The Tannabe and Top Speed systems are starting to look good again....

No doubt.

$550 with free shipping seems like a steal for this one:

I was really looking forward in seeing how the Sebring mufflers were going to sound with the OEM mid pipes. That really stinks it is so expensive...

Pics please! I think after a while of having the FI sedan tips, I might make a change for a more aggressive look.

Expensive is all relative right? Some people here remove their mufflers to save money, while others purchase titanium CBEs for 3k. These are definitely the best looking mufflers on the market, without a doubt.
