I wanted to make a new thread to inform everyone about a buddy of mine porting OEM Throttle Bodies for the G37 and 370Z platforms. This is all in one day, Dyno sheet is from 10/30/2014

Details: Full CNC port to 63mm, new bigger CNC butterfly plate from brass stock, the shaft is thinned down by a CNC with new flat head screws installed and torqued to spec, all disassembled and reassembled for $280 for locals and $295 for non-local.

Note: I do not drive my car in the winter so when we installed these we bypassed the coolant lines from the TB's.


(BLUE on Dyno sheet) The Throttle Bodies were the last mod that I have done. Prior to the new throttle bodies my numbers:

I HIGHLY recommend!

**Notes: Do not be alarmed after you install the TB's and you start throwing codes! You will need to do the throttle positioning reset and a ECU reset. I would dyno pretty soon after these are installed to ensure your A/F is on point. Great new mod with documented power increase!

Man that's exciting and impressive. I'm definitely in line to do this. Going to order the throttles, upper and lower intakes from him, then get a tune! Can't wait!

 

Yeah I'm doing this mod at the same time I'm doing my 4.08 gears... Get rid of all error codes one time. Thanks for letting the public know of what to do after installation. Synolimit knows wassup.

Good call! Yeah it threw codes a couple days after, but the resets and TPS reset cleared them :-D

 

Hmm something to really consider !

 

Scott's work on this project is impressive. Is the TPS reset something most of us can do in the garage? Congrats on all these great results.

Yes you can. just like all resets though nissan can be a pain. You have to follow several steps and in a perfectly timed sequence. Just google TB reset and you'll see what I'm talking about.

These OEM TB’s are disassembled, CNC bored out to 63mm from 58mm, a new butterfly plate is cut from brass stock to match the new bigger size of the throttle body, the butterfly shaft is profiled thinner and flattened from being round like OEM, new flat head screws are installed vs the bigger rounded OEM ones and Loctite down to spec, and reassembled.

You have drive by wire, not cable actuated. And no it wouldn't. The 4 bolt holes on your mani aren't even 90mm round.

 

Thanks for the reply, is 63mm the max or could you go bigger ? If so what would be the max 68-78mm doable ?

 

Max. Anymore and the tb will be to big for the mani hole, you'll have a horrible step the air hits instead of a smooth transition. Also, the mani can only go to 63mm or you port into the silicone gasket ring section. You port into that and you lose the seal. Also, no point in going bigger if you can't get the air in. Stillen gen 3 are 2.35" ID, same as the OEM TB size. No point in doing such a large TB unless you plan to run a 3" CAI pipe. I personally made a 2.75" OD CAI setup to match my TB's, ported upper and ported lower mani all port matched of course

So should I use my stillen gen 3 intakes with the 63 mm throttle body or keep my takeda intakes on? I believe the takeda have a bigger ID... Not sure

 

How long does it take and how hard is it to install this? Is this something that I can install myself? I mean I did install the motordyne intake manifold myself, not to say that it was that hard.
