Stillen Headers
Stillen Headers
Hey guys, just received my stillen ceramic coated headers a few days ago and kind of disappointed with the way they're made / look. First of all they are not even welded all the way around from the outside only from the inside and also the inside tubing is bumpy and rough. The bumps are larger than they look in the pictures but just so you have an idea of what I'm talking about. They just look like some knockoff headers to me. I went with stillen because I thought they're the best around but now I'm not so sure. Do you guys think the DC headers will be better or do you know anything about them or any other quality headers. Any info, help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. I also ordered the stillen short shifter and the underdrive crank pulley from them as well. Phil
Wow that does not look like a quality Stillen product in the least bit. I wouldn't abandon ship yet I would definitely contact stillen and get their opinion on why it looks and feels like that.
Do a little research on those outside welds. There is a lot of debate on when and if they can be completely welded on both sides. For a number of years, it was common for the welds to break on a lot of headers do to heat stresses and the best way to combat that was to not completely weld the outside. Agreed, the inside welds could have been cleaned up a little better before coating but I doubt it will effect anything.

I would say as,long as the inside is completely welded and there's no leaks you'd be fine. Agree they could have done a better job grinding the inside welds before coating, but does it really matter? I mean, you're not gonna see it anyway.....
I dont really care about looks either, but I think u'd really have to dyno the car, install the headers, and dyno again to truly tell if performance is affected, wouldn't you?
