Excited for Stillen
HECK NO ! I admire you bigtime!! I can't even catch up with you. Keep up the good work Sarah!!

^^ OP said they'll be delivered by week's end. Waiting on pics too Sarah, congrats on a nice mod!! (Wish I could do mine too...)
Please, if possible, could you also compare your current setup now and after you install the CAI (power gains, sound, etc? )
Thanks!
And I'm willing to bet my right one that she was already planning on posting those results I just asked for...

I didn't want to start a new thread with my question, since it's related to this awesome intake.
Stillen's website says the splash guard for the filters isn't necessary for grill openings bigger than factory. I read Sam's old thread when he got his installed and how nervous he was about the guy washing his car and spraying the grill like crazy...lol, but everything went well with his, which means water probably can't hurt the filters that much.
Do you guys think the splash guard will restrict incoming airflow at some level, and maybe impact performance? I'm staying with my OEM grill, but those with the Stillen grill, or those with that all-mesh grill, did you guys install the splash guard?

I had mine installed Friday with the splash guards. I live in Oregon and thus it is wet here most of the time. (Liquid sunshine) I figured the people at Stillen put enough thought into these that the splash guards don't affect the performance of the CAI. Just my thoughts.
Hey Guys,
I just wanted to jump in here and suggest that everyone with a G37 that installs our Gen. 3 goes ahead and uses the splash shields regardless of the grill on the vehicle. The product text you see is actually in regards to other vehicles that have the Gen. 3's such as Z cars. For the G37, you really want to use the splash shields!

This is what I needed to hear, I keep posting everywhere here that mine arrives Wednesday...so excited!
I really want to do it right the first time that way I don't have to remove all those parts again just for a tweak that I could've done before. I already got the thermal pipe wrap to protect my a/c lines and avoid any rubbing and vibrations!
I've been reading just about any thread I can find about the proper install of this intake, and it's not that I doubt Stillen's instructions, but there's always something extra that can be done at installation time to avoid headaches in the future. With that in mind:
Is there anything else I need/want to get for the install?
Thanks again Kyle!
It always helps to go into an installation like this with as much information as you can. As you say, it's best to do something right the first time than to have to remove it and do it all over again. Our guys try to be thorough on their instructions however we also find that if we go into too much detail shop mechanics don't pay attention to them and therefore might miss a crucial step. It's always a fine line.
It sounds like you have everything you need to tackle this job! The only thing I would suggest is some tape or something to protect the tubes when routing them through the core support. This step can sometimes cause scratches on the tubes. Aside from that, I would say a frosty beer or two ready to go at the end of the install as a reward for a job well done!
Also, I have received a PM regarding the shields for the G35. The answer is yes. I simply did not include that in the last post as this is the G37 site.
It is very important to use the shield if the shield is in the kit.
