Ark GRIP or Motordyne Shockwave for my SEDAN?

Guys, want a MEAN sound and somewhat quiet when crusing on freeway at 70 MPH.

I saw Black Betty get the Shockwave and trust his opinion, but the ARK is sweet too.

The Shockwave hangs down low. Or looks like it does.

Now that a few guys are running these awhile, any suggestions, new information, "should have done it's", "wished I had done it's", etc.

HELP!

I plan to get an R2C Intake andsome type of an exhaust for my 2009 Sedan.Want a little more OOOOMPH and the sound that makes driving more fun!

Is a tune required when you do this? If so, what shops in Dallas, TX (near Dallas, TX) are good at tuning? I know JOTECH, but they are expensive and never tuned an Infiniti before.

Have a 2001 C5 Vette Heavily Modded, so very familiar with tuning on that, but not sure what they will do on these cars during the tune. maybe just get air fuel ratios right? What else will they do?

Thanks The Bandit...................

YES I have searched, but want some opionos between these 2. I want a mean *** sounding exhaust, but I am OLD and drive this to work (I'm a Commercial banker, so I can't be too cool!, if you know what I mean).

Both sound good man...

I have the ARK. It's very throaty and just beefs up that stock VQ sound.

They both hang low. Tune not necessary.

It all comes down to personal opinion.

We can't make up your mind for you.

yes! PLEASE listen to it in person. no matter how many videos or sound clips you listen to, it is very different in person. ive watched a ton of clips on tanabe axlebacks and thought it sounded pretty good, but when i heard it in person it was SOO quiet!

now about the ark, it sounds really good, i had one on my sedan but i took it off recently. i got rid of the ark because i wanted to fund my new wheels/tires, but also because in my opinion it was a bit too loud. this was my opinion though, ive heard people saying theyre ark wasnt loud enough! so for sure hear it in person first. HOWEVER.. i really miss the ark and how nice it sounded..

you dont HAVE to get a tune but i would recommend it. oh and i say DONT get r2c's. i have them but i would suggest getting HPS tubes instead. with r2c and ark combo your going to lose low end torque and have some throttle lag. a tune will probably help with that, this is all from experiencing it with my sedan!!

Whatthefoie, and everyone, THANKS!

Whatthefoie, your response is exactly what I was looking for (need more thought), you had the combo, you told don't get R2C. I definately DON'T want to loose low end TQ!

In fact, that is what I am lacking now. Keep them coming and yes, someone might make the decision for me. LOL

I almost got Chrome wheels and Sniper talked me out of it. LOL

IS Motordyne ONLY for coupes???????????? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Thanks

No problem, im glad i can help someone out when i was in the same situation. i just learned from the hard way, by spending lots of moneys

yeah i wish i could get into more detail about intakes vs our stock air box setup, but ill try and look for the thread again talking about aftermarket intakes vs HPS tubes. ah, in the middle of my post i searched for the thread:

https://www.myg37.com/forums/intake-...-lovin-it.html

from my experience with the r2c's, it gave me some gains, but only at 5k+ RPM, which to be honest i rarely ever push my car on the street. also the numbers were pretty minimal.. i mean it could totally be my butt dyno telling me it pulls harder. it sounds very nice though, but in terms of it affecting the performance, like i was saying you will lose low end torque/hp but gain high end torque/hp. i have a thread talking about my tune i got after the r2c + ark:

https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...e-results.html

you can see how my low end torque dropped quite a bit, but mid-high went up a bit.

now that i have gone through this setup, or i mean i still have the r2c's.. but i wish i got the HPS tubes, kept my stock exhaust and just went with HFC's. i heard that our cats are the most restrictive part of the exhaust system.

also this is totally subjective, but i feel like a lot of aftermarket exhausts sort of take away some class from the G sedan. on coupes the exhausts look mean and nice, but especially how the ark tips were 4.5" in diameter, they were freakin huge haha. the cans were pretty low, and stuck out a bit. like i said, this is just my opinion.. but it was a little too ricey for such a nice business car. but the sound..... oh my goodness.. heres my video:

Great response, totally appreciate it since I KNOW that took some time to write and post links, etc. I am a Commercial Banker, a cool Banker LOL, but a Banker never the less. I can play a mean guitar too. Anyway, with ALL the posts proving and backing up that there are little GAINS to be had, what I am REALLY looking for is the sound, I mean the pretty exhaust that is so beautiful is 95% hidden under the car and you will never see it anyway. I know the exhaust give a nicer sound and some gains too (especially paired with HFC's) ARK CBE looks nice from the rear too, but I agree, the cans are HUGE. Almost a little ricey. I might be embarred pulling up to work and my boss seeing the Huge blue tips. LOL I get it though, they are pretty and nice, but there is a fine line depending on who your audience is.

I am surprised that HFC's make that much of a difference. I heard a video of the MotorDyne Shickwave Exhaust that was just on a group purchase that Black Betty was in and that exhause sounded mean to me. I am sure in person the ARK sounds GREAT, but I am not a huge fan of the REALLY DEEP LOW exhaust.

What is HPS Tubes? "HPS"????????????????????

Anyway, I wasn't going to get HFC's, but it seems that is one mod that actually works and sounds good. I understand the concept of an intake and it helps a lot on my Vette, but just need to get one that GIVES ME Low End, not takes it away. I like the feeling of taking off from a stop, or a 30MPH roll. I don't care about going 80-100 MPH and then it kicking in.

OK, wife is telling me to get ready, got to run.

Gary

The HPS tubes? they are intake tube replacements! read the first thread i posted, has some interesting info in there.

you should try calling Tony at FI about the exact sound you want. theyre exhausts are great and i believe the piping on the FI is 2.25" whereas the ark is 2.5", so it wont be as loud in the cabin.

I say you get, K&N filters, HPS tubes, FI RHFC or HFC, and FI CBE. boom. oh and a tune.. haha this is getting $$$$$$$

NOW, I need to figure out which HFC to pair with them, ARK makes some new HFC's, so I am sure they pair well, but Fast Intentions also has some good ones from all the posts on here.

Anyone suggest or want to strongly reccomend Resonated or Non-Resonated HFC's???

If I get resonated, will it loose alot of sound?

Looking at ARK, but no one has them yet? Or I haven't found a good post yet.
