KN Typhoon intake noise

I just installed my KN typhoon air intake - first time ever doing this. It would have been a lot easier if I had a pair of pliers from the beginning to get those damn spring clips off. But it is installed and I am happy with it.

I was doing a little spirited driving tonight and had the car up above 5k a few times. The car is A LOT louder now with the intakes - is it normal to have a (I believe this would be a good definition of the sound) high, piercing type of noise?

I checked all the fittings and everything was on their tight.

Just did not know if this was normal or not. I searched and could not find anything really to what I was looking for.

Thanks!

Have the same intake. From 4500-6500 the G has a noticible louder "growl". Completely normal.

One thing you can do is check to make sure the connection to the throttle body if fully on the TB. I had a problem with mine. The rubber coupler was folded under (my own fault) and I was getting a really loud noise.

Other than that it's normal.

Yeah - my dad has this installed on his 08 G sedan and I couldn't remember his being as loud as mine.

That's good to hear then. It was almost too loud when I was up at 6-7500.

Now the connection to the TB - the KN tube doe not have to be on there tight meaning the TB and tube are right next to each other. With the coupler, it is ok to have space in between the TB and tube - if you understand that?

I'll take a look and make sure it is sealed tight around the TB and tubes.

No. The TB connections needs to be tight with the hose clamp. There should be NO space. Put it on as far as it will go. Don't force it though. There should be no spaces where any of your connections are. You don't want air leaks. Air leaks create noises and have the potential of letting foreign bodies into your engine.

The hose clamps are tight - it's kind of hard to explain - the end of the tube doesn't have to be up against the throttle body does it? The coupler will allow the gap between the two and will create an air tight seal with the hose clamps?

That is correct. The rubber coupler finishes the connection to the TB. BUT the coupler should be all the way onto the tube and all the way onto the TB with no part of the coupler folded under the clamp.

Gotcha; I will double check that. I'm pretty sure it's on there good.

Thanks.
