I would start by doing a thread search. I think this question has been asked many times already. You should be able to find your answers there. Good Luck oh and by the way, it wont sound retarded

There shouldn't really be any reason why an automatic or manual transmission would sound different.

Why would an exhaust on an auto sound retarded? I think you're mixing up A/T with CVT.. now that would sound retarded.

Ya, sometimes the search engine on this forum can be a little stupid.

Head over to the "modding 411" section. From there you can ger the names of a few brands and head over to YouTube. There you should be able to search for sound clips.

I think I know what he's asking.
Most A/T s dont decelerate, or should I say theres no engine braking when decelerating.
I definitely hear when an A/T Honda with acoffee can filter let of the gas!

Lets just say with the G37s engine braking an aftermarket exhaust on an A/T doesnt sound retarded!!

Definitely search youtube so you can find the exhaust sound you're looking for. I looked at various setups and went with Stillen Catbacks. The sound is exactly what I wanted. Sportier and classy sound with out crossing into obnoxious. '08 A/T. Sounds good at all RPMs, no drone.

I have a MXP exhaust on my 5AT and it sounds real good. Just go with what sounds good for you, if your lucky enough to hear them up close that would be good otherwise just look them up on YouTube. I was looking at exhaust for my car for months just make sure you make the right choice and not end up regretting your purchase.
