I'm looking at K&N too for my '12 G37xs coupe. 15.3 hp sounds nice! but I've read guys out there get 5-10 hp if that from most SRI setups. For me its either K&N typhoon or afe drop ins / hps tubes. If I could see a dyno sheet on these K&N's that would make this purchase sooo much easier.
After trying to find some input on here and other sites on the K&N with no success, I took a shot and ordered the kit. I installed it in under an hour. Not too difficult. It added a deeper, more aggressive, sound during heavy acceleration. I have no real proof of the 15hp gain, but it certainly makes your mind feel like that extra push is there when you get after it.
I think for price, ease of installation, and lack of any modifications to the stock setup under the hood/bumper area, it made the most sense for me. I am not an expert, and not overly interested in modding much more than the intake, but this seemed like an easy win.
Thanks for the dyno info. I have the K&N setup with 14,000 miles on them and I knew there was a power kick when I installed. Considering adding cat back magnaflow.
I know this is an old thread but I had recently installed the typhoon system on my 09 g37x sedan but is it necessary to do an idle relearn after install?
I did clean the MAF sensors and throttle bodies once I had removed the stock air intake with appropriate CRC cleaners.
After I put the K&N system on and started the car my RPM was at around 2000-2500 for about 5 seconds and fluctuating, until I drove it around for a few miles and then it calmed down, but it seems to idle alittle higher than normal when the car is first started before it dies down some, I am thinking that is most likely because of cleaning the throttle bodies out though and not the new intake system install but any feedback on whether I should reset something is appreciated.
