How Much for HFC Install?

Before everybody flames me, yes I did use search. I even Googled my question and didn't find an answer.

Does anyone have an idea of how much it should run me to install HFCs? I got quoted $145 from one shop. Sounds kind of high to me but this is the only quote I've received so far so I have nothing else to compare it to. I really want to try it out myself but I don't want to f up the O2 sensors. Does anyone know what size socket it is?

Thanks all!

That is low. $250 at one dealership that did mine. Another one was about $400. Be happy with that price if the shop is reputable and wll take responsibility if they have to spend extra time extracting broken studs or replacing a damaged O2 sensor. Both issues are common complications with that job.

Thanks for the reply BB! And wow $400?! What a rip off! Glad to hear it's a good price. They said their technician is ASE certified or something too.

That's 3+ hours of labor at $125/hr. It's a little high but not much. The job is a PITA that many shops would rather not do so they price it higher. I'd charge someone at least $300 for the labor because of the risk of damage and the PITA factor.

I was kind of thinking about tackling it myself so I could save a few bucks...how hard is it to do without a lift? It seems pretty straight forward. I've only had my car since late February car hasn't been driven in any snow/salt yet so no (or not much) corrosion on the cat bolts. Just worried about f'ing up the O2 sensors.

^ it really isn't too difficult. do yourself a favor though - go to a dealership, or a mechanic, and have them break the two bolts facing UP out of the engine bay. it'll be the best <$40 you've EVER spent.

I got quoted $100 and $135. Both shops are reputable shops that deal with many G's and Z's.

I got mines done for 125. The price was worth it considering it took a few hours to install due to the demon bolts
